Just ran the full suit of futuremark 3dmarks to compare against my xp install. Here's how it went: 3DMark Vantage Advanced (was free) : Ran fine in entry and performance modes 3DMark 06: Ran fine 3DMark 05: Ran fine 3DMark 03: Ran fine, but would not display the results nor allow me to submit them, only tried once tho so could of been a rare issue 3DMark 01: Benchmark ran fine and submitted a nice high score (1000+ fps in some spots lol) The game demo worked perfect also. But the visual demo wouldnt fully run, just the first part. Overall results were mixed, but on average slower then XP.. But generally faster then all the vista systems i compared against (not my own i deleted vista ages ago) PS: Driver version 185.20
Win7 x86 v7000 / 181.20 whql Here are some additional apps and games working on my platform: apps: tuneup utilities 2009 <-- there'll be an error upon installation, but just ignore it this will work. my friend cannot install this, seems that there's a problem with windows installer crashing, which can be fixed by a simple registry tweak. nod32 v2.7 klite codec pack 4.5.3 mega <-- seems working fine, but it cannot play .srt files (subtitles). dunno if this is a bug of win7 or from klite. games: sacred 2 <-- needs -skipopenal command line parameter so that it can render missing graphics (weird "fix" though if you ask me) heroes 3 <-- old game might and magic 6,7 <-- old games diablo 2 lod with mods nfs most wanted starcraft brood war neverwinter nights <-- needed compatibility to xp sp2 neverwinter nights 2, mask of the betrayer, storm of zehir <-- running fine. first time running, there's an error. upon reinstallation, works fine. drivers: creative sb x-fi xtreme audio [pcie x1] <-- threadstarter categorized this as "not working". windows update did the job for me.. or maybe mine with the board, so it might be a little different than the rest out there..
I deleted my win7 par****on before I could try it but on another forum they said daemon tools v3.17 was working for win7 and run as administrator. There's also a reg hack out to turn off the uac and keep your gadgets.
Im playing Cod4 online. Copied the whole game folder from program files on my vista par****on over to my win 7 par****on and it works fine for online play
U must be playing on No punkbuster servers then. Cause sooner or later you will get kicked for "Unkown Windows API"
i don't get kicked in cod4 but i get kicked in farcry 2 online so i guess just depends on your luck :O
umm thats fix for creative? I have no sound in Win 7 but works in XP Pro, creative Xfi gamer.... sitting here wondering what to do, guess i should just install creative X-fi installation cd for windows Vista...or XP....i have both in my system. Vista Ultimate 64 bit on one hdd . win XP pro32bit on another with win 7 on partioned drive with the XP Pro on other partion. World of Warcraft is aboslutely Beautiful and had sound when first played yesterday.(win 7 installed yester day.) booted into win 7 this morning ...no sound... sorry for ramblin...

Steam games dont work. 5-10 min in, hard crash. Seems to be a X58 chipset issue, or a crossfire one with just bad driverss... Mind u though, ive tried a fresh copy of 7 with 1 4870 x2 and had same issue. Ive done frsh versions of 7 each time ive tried new drivers also. Also, onboard soundmax wont work other than native. So no 5.1 audio support. All else seems to work fine..... I truly think MS is trying to make older systems(people that bitched about vista happy again as primary focus) and haven't totally got on board yet with the newest chipsets compatibilty issues. Still cant complain, out of the box, of all the beta testing I do for others, windows 7 is the best launched piece of beta software ive ever seen.
for people having problem with creative drivers, anyone of you tried windows update? mine working flawlessly..

working in 32bit; Steam; CS:S, HlM and GRID Native Instruments Guitar Rig 3.1 and 3.2 Reaper 2.54 Not working; Macromedia Authorware plugin quickcam 11.5, 11.8; can manually copy the extracted install files from temp (don't click skip!) but, causes bsod when viewing cam screen and also unable to update due to an error. Logitech pro 9000 camera works with win7 built-in uvd drivers, but, offers no control of the camera's features.
