    something a little strange

    this isnt graphic related

I installed the latest build and when my desktop comes up, notepad opens up with this line.

    [.ShellClassInfo]
    LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787

any idea why it does this and how to get rid of it.

    thank you

    Notepad opens on boot fix

Open command prompt as Administrator and navigate to C:\ and type "attrib +S +H desktop.ini /S" (without quotes "")

    press enter

wait couple of sec and your are done, it will complain that it cant change attributes for couple of files, but just ignore that.

I will only say this, the latest Windows.7.Ultimate.RC1.Build.7057.x64.DVD is just facking fantastic, so FAST!!

I mean they must have done something this time around comparing to the 7048 rls. It installed smoking fast and had all the drivers pre installed, even the graphics card. it boots and shuts down in seconds.

Now its defenetly my first OS. Wonderful.

Well I got the 7000 build from m$, upgraded to 7048 and again to 7057 torrent.

lol@the desktop.ini thing. That's retarded. Other than that, early indications forcast another cracking build.

It looks and sounds nicer. Things like more refined in general. I have yet to update drivers or play games, but everything so far has been working faster.

    Boots quicker for me too...

Nothing. My Windows Live Mail broke with 7057, but it's pretty much the same as 7000 and 7048 except the GUI is nicer looking. Performance is great though. :)

EDIT: I just tried to play an MKV file and it had fubarred. :( I hate codecs.
...but on the Plus side, I played a stereo AVI and a "Dolby Digital Plus" logo appeared on WMP12! Holy wtf?

The only thing u need is Media Player Classic Home Cinema x64...

I could get ffdshow x64 too but i feel that the built in in MPC are enough for my needs...

Any news yet on the 7067 build=? cant still seem to find it anywhere...

this build has been the most troublesome for me. It has broken my ability to play back blu rays. When I play a blu ray in powerdvd, I get green static that never happened before. Not sure where to point the finger but it seems like the ATI driver is at fault.

    any ideas

which driver version is working best for you?

is there any way to force win 7 to take the 9.2 driver thats for vista.

I forced 9.2 in and it's fine and dandy, aleicgrant.

Oh, and Gucci, unfortunatley we use WMP due to the remote features and Media Center. I tried MPC and it's running fine of course - should have mentioned.

The new Dolby Digital stuff seems to have broken the Hi-Def content. The files just aren't "connecting" with the codecs anymore. Looks like it might give WPC a run for it's money when finished though! :D

Oh but the gaming sessions have been rather good too.
