Maybe this will help my beloved atom tablet? Windows 8 is still twice as fast as 10 when it comes to playing games on it.

Could work, but, one of the requirements would be that you have a true 8-core cpu...and probably AMD gpu to go with it. You're in luck, though, it's 2017. :nerd:

That sounds more like a GPU driver issue.

Sounds like a very bad case of user error, in no way is W8 twice as fast as W10.

It's identical to W8 in my experience, while others i know claim that W10 is faster for games.

It's strange MS didn't advertise (yet) this Game Mode as "Windows 10 Xbox Mode".

I could be wrong but this things seems a simple way to consolize Windows 10 even more than Windows 10 Store games already did.

Your probably not, im sure the end goal is to temp console gamers to switch sides.

It seems to be working for both UWP and Win32 games, so it would help everything running on the platform.

    Speaking about platforms...

I would prefer to add the very few Windows 10 Store games that worth something AND are exclusives to MS stores (Xbox One store/Windows 10 Store) to the Steam library with a:

    HOOK

    This is nice! :D

I'm glad that UWP actually allows for something like that to happen.

why not call it windows 7 mode, ie: turn all the crap off

I wonder if they will really do this, people might just enable the thing 24h to get a usable machine

it could be, in same cases, w10 is just soo bloated with unending background activity that a weak machine could be rendered useless, especially with no ssd

You know I've been waiting a long time for Microsoft to optimize memory past the 640 KB barrier. I guess they're finally getting around to it.

    What I was wondering too.

Good point. Probably too many metro apps in the background that nobody needs.

Not everyone is dumb to click next until a software installs, or clicks every weird ad on websites or mail links or downloads weird stuff.

It's also been at least 5 years since i used an Anti Virus and didn't have a single problem since then, maybe if people used their brain instead of relying on security Software to protect them from their own stupidity would be a step in the right direction.

And if you have to rely on UAC then i feel sorry for you. :3eyes:

    UAC is annoying as sh1t.

I disable that, don't use any AV of any kind(including defender) and never have any issues.

The real anti-virus is being at least semi-intelligent.

I don't think they have any impact on performance though, certainly not on my machine and not even on my wife's 5 year old laptop with 3gb ram and igpu.

I wouldn't trust your computer with anything important if I were you. Disabling UAC means that if a webpage for example uses a browser exploit, you will never know that something runs. There is also the fact that there aren't THAT many day to day occasions that you need to run stuff as admin.

    I completely agree.

The last time I disabled UAC was when I was running Vista.

Since 7 came out, it does what it is supposed to do and is there for security reasons.

How many of you unlock all the doors in your house and leave them wide open when you leave? No one? I thought so.

Same thing with UAC. It should be left on.

Its not. Intel IGPUs on portables have always given much better performance in previous version of Windows.

Take any old Intel GMA laptop\netbook and compare say Windows 7 and XP. Difference is night and day in terms of 3D performance, with XP being substantially faster. This is only on these GPUs.

its still ON, even @ never notify. Check security & maintenance center. Stop telling people it will infect it if "off".

Also when you download something, it blocks it, right-click on that said file/installer and there is also a option saying do you want to unblock because it didn't came from this pc - another precaution protection, then there is web browser type protection - noscript and a like..

Like I said better not use internet at all, you never know.
