I'm still running the upgrade install... feeling no need to do a clean install either. And you're probably right about the whole HW/SW issue. Kinda like back in Vista days. People complained about it left and right, saying it was garbage and hardly worked.... but mine worked just fine. So long as i had certain BIOS settings configured in a certain way, anyway. Think even if i tried to overclock a smidge, Vista would throw a fit in minutes.
brand new build. with skylake. none of the old parts made it over. and I still get the random IE aka whatever name the browser is micro freezes. or the OS takes time to "think" windows 8.1 does not have any of these issues. I atleast thought some time went by these would be ironed out. I guess not. all hardware checks out. memtest overnight etc. maybe I should give some insider builds a try
well... as i said in the post right above yours, it could just as easily be another one of those random hardware/software compatibility issues like i used to have with Vista. Having everything BIOS related set to basically default settings... everything ran fine. Overclock the CPU a TEENSY BIT, and it basically wouldn't even boot. And who even uses the built-in browser?
I clicked on the Windows 10 update and discovered it wants to install it through windows update.. I haven't reinstalled Windows sense I installed Windows 8 when it was released. Do I need to do a reinstall? Or is it fine just updating from Windows update?
I see. Then it will automatically update to Windows 10 when I install the Windows 8 disc? By recognizing my key code?
I mean clean install 10, you can forget about 8 now, just upgrade from 8 to 10, make sure it's activated, and then you can clean install 10 without any product key from then onwards
So far Windows 10 TH2 Preview build 10565 finally fix the Dolby Digital Live & DTS Connect bug from 10240 build to 10558.
Calculator app got updated. It seems to load in a consistent manner now. Movies & TV app also got updated but I never used it so I can't say much. That app really needs the dark theme like music. Anyway, I use MPC so whatever.
I'm loving this build, seems to agree with my rig finally. Everything smooth including gaming.....hope it doesn't change too much
Still no notifactions of app updates in the AC., and this (KB3097617) update unlike the last one didnt hose WU
New changes for activation coming. http://www.zdnet.com/article/next-b...=nl.e539&s_cid=e539&ttag=e539&ftag=TRE17cfd61
That could be good thing. If i can bypass the upgrade on other pc's and do straight clean installe first with the old key save on some trouble
Yeah I think that's what they are shooting for the people that are holding back from upgrading because it is a hassle.
Very many people do, me included. It's still the best. I did an upgrade over 8.1 using the Media tool on launch day and everything has gone smoothly. I have had no bugs and there's no need for a clean install.
probably already posted but easy way to disable windows update is to turn off and disable the windows firewall in services i found out yesterday when some updates were failing and the microsoft fix was to turn the firewall back on
