Sure are a lot of bugs in Windows 10...I seem to find new ones every day, thankfully most are just annoying rather than problematic. For example, today I have left Groove Music open and decided to play some music while browsing. Started an album then minimized it to the taskbar. Music stopped! What...? Maximized Groove Music and it started playing. Clicked on Chrome and it continued playing. Clicked on Groove Music and minimized it again. Music stopped. Restarted my PC and now Groove Music works expected, playing music in the background. :3eyes: Another bug, is that Dream, a (mediocre) Steam game, when I exit it causes half the icons to disappear on the taskbar. No other game does this but it can be fixed by restarting Explorer in Task Manager. Add to that the issues with the Xbox One controller in a few games and I sometimes wonder why I didn't just stick with Windows 8.1. It works without any of those issues.
The only thing Windows 10 has going for it is DirectX 12... which is not supported by many if any actual games at this point in time. Everything else can be done on previous operating systems. This is the debate I had with myself which resulted in going back to previous OS.
ARK should be getting a DX12 patch soon so it may be the the first DX12 game we can try and compare with DX11.
Good for ARK players... It's a shame they will have to put up with all the early teething problems of Windows 10 just to play a video game.
What early teething problems? I haven't had any issues with Win10... At least nothing that would make me think the OS isn't usable or worthwhile.
You aren't trying to be funny right? Sure you can use it... the problem is all the bugs and lack of proper control of the OS.. If you don't mind those things it's an ok OS.
Maybe I've been lucky but I haven't encountered a single bug or problem, not with games, music or movies. Not even issues with Mediaportal, and I expected lots from that. I might try and waste some time trying to duplicate the issues people seem to be having .
im hearing 10525 build is gona lock down telemetry so i cant be disabled? and we wont be able to stop it from sending info to MS? any truth to this?
You could try blocking these in the hostfile? vortex.data.microsoft.com vortex-win.data.microsoft.com telecommand.telemetry.microsoft.com telecommand.telemetry.microsoft.com.nsatc.net oca.telemetry.microsoft.com oca.telemetry.microsoft.com.nsatc.net sqm.telemetry.microsoft.com sqm.telemetry.microsoft.com.nsatc.net watson.telemetry.microsoft.com watson.telemetry.microsoft.com.nsatc.net redir.metaservices.microsoft.com choice.microsoft.com choice.microsoft.com.nsatc.net df.telemetry.microsoft.com reports.wes.df.telemetry.microsoft.com wes.df.telemetry.microsoft.com services.wes.df.telemetry.microsoft.com sqm.df.telemetry.microsoft.com telemetry.microsoft.com watson.ppe.telemetry.microsoft.com telemetry.appex.bing.net telemetry.urs.microsoft.com telemetry.appex.bing.net:443 settings-sandbox.data.microsoft.com vortex-sandbox.data.microsoft.com survey.watson.microsoft.com watson.live.com watson.microsoft.com statsfe2.ws.microsoft.com corpext.msitadfs.glbdns2.microsoft.com compatexchange.cloudapp.net cs1.wpc.v0cdn.net a-0001.a-msedge.net statsfe2.update.microsoft.com.akadns.net sls.update.microsoft.com.akadns.net fe2.update.microsoft.com.akadns.net diagnostics.support.microsoft.com corp.sts.microsoft.com statsfe1.ws.microsoft.com pre.footprintpredict.com i1.services.social.microsoft.com i1.services.social.microsoft.com.nsatc.net feedback.windows.com feedback.microsoft-hohm.com feedback.search.microsoft.com rad.msn.com preview.msn.com ad.doubleclick.net ads.msn.com ads1.msads.net ads1.msn.com a.ads1.msn.com a.ads2.msn.com adnexus.net adnxs.com az361816.vo.msecnd.net az512334.vo.msecnd.net I never did get around to figuring out if telemetry bypassed the hostfile :T
yah i know about all the addresshttp://www.snbforums.com/threads/how-to-disable-windows-10-tracking-using-ipset-entware.26615/ This guy found away to block it all from router.
Ahh yes.. that would be the best way. Ohhh Nice~ His list has more than the one I had *saves for later use*
You don't need Windows 10 to play the game. It supports DX11 and I think DX10 too. If you want DX12 we knew a long time ago Windows 10 was the only way.
Windows 10 Home was such a headache xD Windows 10 Pro was much better than home. I had issues with audio.. also audio control panel didn't work correctly for my sound card, also not being able to have two active audio cards working at the same time... at least I couldn't figure it out. Things opening, then closing, then opening again in an instant, notifications continuously popping up, being able to disconnect and reconnect to different networks when the PC is locked..wtf Microsoft? and not being able to disable said feature in Windows 10 Home, only Pro and up. Not being able to select what updates are installed is also an issue. Then of course privacy concerns which can be dealt with to a degree. I wonder what Windows 11 will be like :/
I have not played any Blizzard games in a while but when I tried to play Diablo III RoS the other day, post v2.3.0 update, I noticed that the Battle.net icon was not showing in my system tray despite the fact that it is listed as a startup process. It runs fine when I launch it manually however so there's nothing wrong with the program running in Windows 10. I remembered that I had a similar problem with Steam, which is set to launch with Windows, after I changed the executable's compatibility mode to Run as Admin to get around an annoying prompt about additional Steam componenets needing to be installed when launching updated games for the first time. Well, it turned out I had to grant the SteamService admin rights not the Steam executable and then Steam boots with Windows fine. I checked the Battle.net executable and, sure enough, it was set to Run as Admin. Once I unchecked that then the process runs at startup and the icon is displayed in my system tray. This did not happen on Windows 8.1. I could run programs at startup regardless of whether they were set to Run as Admin or not. In fact, some programs would *only* start this way even though I am the sole user and administrator of my PC. Anyone know why this change has been made? Is it to prevent viruses and trojans from running with Windows or something?
Well scrub that, desktop pc took almost 10 mins to boot to desktop, never has it too even half that time to boot fully to desktop, just going to stick W8.1 pro back onto it, assuming the licence will still work with my retail copy, i would not put it past MS to lock the licence down to W10 once you have used it for a month and cannot roll back. We shall see.
If i don't post back in the next 2 hours,(1 hour 15 to back up my steam games first to a external HDD, just under 2 tb, god damn you steam sales, lol), then you will know it did not work and i have thrown the whole lot out the window.(pun intended) . lol I hope it does work because if not, i would also have lost my W7 pro also, that's on my steam box, and i would not be a happy chappie to say the least. Fingers crossed.
anybody have problems with windows 10 forgetting settings. I had my pagefile set to my own size. and just noticed it was set to 64mb. now I know why I was getting stuttering in some games. and this isnt the first time it happening. I wounder if sometime windows sync fails and accidentally reset settings
