Because theres third party tools out there that provide that option. Allows to make light weight isos.

Some people have been getting Windows 10 to show up in Windows update. How do I get it to show please? I want to try it out.

8.1 started asking me to try out preview builds from WU after I ran this
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=522367

I cancelled the installer after getting right up to the point of no return, WU then started asking me to install 9926, cancelled that and 10041 appeared

Free of icons but full of much larger tiles. I'll stay with the icons.

There aren't any tiles on the desktop on 8.1 though....

Are they that ignorant that they can't install something like Classic Shell and have exactly the UI that they want while having a better OS than 7 at the same time?

He didn't say the desktop. He said the metro UI.

I use desktop Icons for all my most used things anyway.

Those who use preview does it still have a option to use old style metro start like they said at first?

So old win8 style and this new win8+win7 mix look..

Well I would be really disappointed if they somehow removed it now, don't like this new old win7 look one bit.. Really got use to win8 start, its more visible and flexible.

While I agree it is flexible and very visible I find it a bit too spaced out and clunky in a KB/M environment. But on a tablet it is very nice.

Huh, he only mentioned the desktop.
The part about the MetroUI was that it keeps his desktop as clean as possible.

Yes, it definitely does. All you do to switch between the smaller version (for desktops) and the larger version (for tablets) is click the button at the top right of the start menu- similar to the Maximize button for applications.

Here are examples of the newer start menu (As of build 10049):

Fantastic. I love the metro screen once all the extra crap is taken out of the Apps section by simply deleting the shortcuts from the start menu folder. Far more efficient than clicking through multiple menus and folders just to get to the shortcut of a program you've installed.

The expanded version is just ridiculous.

I think I would prefer the metro UI over the new start menu. It is something I have gotten used to. As other have said. Once you delete everything off, then start adding all your own stuff it isn't too bad.

Personally I like it because I throw all my apps on the start page in Windows 8.1. I did not install too much on my 10 partition but I imagine I will do the same.
