Forgive me if I'm being repetitive, as I'm kinda confused, but if I were to upgrade to this build straight from my 8.1 account, would it essentially act as an RTM upgrade and stay activated via the 8.1 key?
Since the activation server is down, if you were to upgrade, windows 10 would not activate. I would suggest you wait until the 29th. Then you can upgrade, get your iso, then to a clean install if you choose to go that route.
Yes, I noticed that the majority, if not all languages can be enabled when I switched to Japanese display/input.
So was it a good idea we installed the last build when we did? Or is this just saying no more new insiders for a while? Cause the way i read this had we not activated when we did, we would be stuck with an older build or none at all Now regarding the new start is back....lol im actually not going to even use it...and i paid for it when i was on win 8...btw would our key from the last version work or would we have to buy another after 30 days if we wanted to use start is back with 10? Just curious..but right now im ok with normal 10 start menu
It has been stated that 10240 will most likely be the last build before release. I agree with your StartIsBack statement. I used it on Windows 8/8.1, but with Windows 10 I haven't found much of a use for it. The new start menu does just what I need which isn't much. In regards to the activation key I briefly installed StartIsBack++ on Windows 10 and my activation key worked just fine, just the same as it previously did with StartIsBack to StartIsBack+.
Win 10 insider preview also says that it is permanently activated. I'd like it to stay that way Start Menu is alright by me. I can disable cortana so web search is no longer an issue and I pin folders that I use frequently but don't want cluttering up Explorer's jumplist. Only enhancement I would like is changing the icons of folders pinned to a thumbnail or a live tile. I had tried SIB++ when i was on 166, one good thing it did was disable cortana and the app stuff until they're opened. Saved 400MB RAM just like that, ie, back to 8.1 levels. I saw in reliability report that photos app crashed thrice in the last 24 hours and I had not even launched it during those times. May be suspension causes crashes? Apps are still a lot more reliable after yesterday's update. Now all I want from MS is the reason I really upgraded to Win10 - the damned wireless adapter for the xbox one controller!!
Yesterday i tried windows 10, i had to revert back to 8.1 SLI didnt work, no metter what driver version i was using, the moment i enabled SLI in nvidia control panel my PC froze and i had to go in to a safe mode to uninstall nvidia drivers, else it will continue to freeze.
Version "leaked" is 10240.16384.150709-1700 Current Windows ver is 10240.16390 look at reg: Computer\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion So i think its not legit
