I'm making this thread, because it's important. I want to ask everybody to keep a look out for the Nvidia Preview W7 WDDM 1.1 Drivers. There is Pre-Preview drivers already out. 178.14 drivers. But there hasn't been any update since then. So post here if you find any. Or Heard anything about them.

    Current WDDM 1.1 Drivers for Win7 - 179.23
    Current WDDM 1.0 Drivers for Win7 - 185.20

Yeah, I installed Windows 7 on a partition earlier today and I was looking for that driver set. I figured it'd be available somewhere but it wasn't.

Oh well, I had no problems with the Vista x64 180.44 set.

I'm running win7 (6801) 64bit tried both 108.44 dox and 178.14 from windows update, 180.44 play l4d flawlessly maybe a 10% reduction in performance very good for a pre beta OS (install it with compatibility mode to vista RTM). This OS is rock solid stable too! This OS is stable enough to be a primary.

Yeah its awesomely stable to be a "pre-Beta" version. IMO.

And *MOST* of my programs work flawlessly with it, while some install, but wont run at all.
That applies to drivers too. I installed the Realtek HD Audio driver, and while it wont open the configuration tab, it does let me select which device does what (when i plug it in).
I havent tried installing any video driver aside from the one mentioned on the first post.

Far Cry 2 runs very well with that driver btw... (for me that is) and so does L4D.

Windows 7 is very stable, but its far from being feature complete.
I have it on my laptop and it performs very well.

Thread re-opened, if this turns into another Vista argument then it'll get closed again.

    Thanks Morbias. Anyways.

I'll try to keep a eye out for any new drivers that are WDDM1.1

Till then, I recommand using the latest WDDM1.0 drivers.

Two cores of my 9800 GX2 works only with this 178.14. When I install any other drivers like 180.43, 180.60, 180.70 my PC get freeze in games and I have to disable multi-GPU mode. I hope there will be updates soon.

With the 180.xx drivers, and 32bit XP, multi core CPU must be disabled for HL2 games to run without stuttering (like Left4Dead), so it may be a driver issue and not a windows 7 issue (or maybe some of both?).

Forceware 181.00 recognizes Windows 7 but can't confirm if it's properly running in WDDM1.1, So I'm thinking they just started development for WDDM1.1 and already have the installer done, but not the drivers themself. So for now, Use 178.14/178.16 or 181.00.

DX11 isn't in W7 yet, The DXDIAG reads out DX11 yes, but the files are not there. Look in your system32 for d3d files, d3dx9 and d3dx10 are there, but there is no d3dx11.

I don't know if all DX11 files are in Win 7 version 6956, however DX11 is definitely included ---> hint, just look for d3d11.dll !

DX11 is currently evolving, so I have no idea how many files will eventually be involved with a "proper" DX11 installation ---> but neither have you?

All I said was that "some form of DX11" is definitely included in win7 version 6956 !
