As Ryzen+ is getting closer some of you must be thinking about what to do.
Keep your current CPU or update both CPU and motherboard.
Personally I will upgrade my CPU, if Ryzen+ clocks to 4.35 / 4.4 GHz or higher.
Whether I will update my motherboard remains to be seen.

    What will you do ?

I will most likely keep my Ryzen 7 and my X370 board. No pressing need to upgrade, and I'm satisfied with what I have for now.

Gonna keep mine also. Just actually got it put together. Rocking my 1800X at 4.1ghz. Think this setup will hold me for awhile. :D

    Definitely not!

My Brother is waiting for 2700X & X470 to come out. He was supposed to get the 1800X & X370 last year but he got upset with how much crazy performance my 8700K & Z370 put out over the 1800X & X370.

My 8700K @5.2GHz cooling by (EK) blows away 1800X @4.1GHz!

    2700X is over a 100 Watts? On 12nm?

What's with AMD with high watts?

Vega 64 Liquid is (350) Watts
    2700X is (105) Watts

All xx80Ti are only (250) Watts and untouchable.

After owning an CHVF + FX8320 for a quite a few years now I figure it's time for an upgrade I would have done it sooner but prices here are way to high for reasonable hardware upgrades an X370 mobo + 16GB DDR4 + RyZen 1700 = $1200+ bucks here

Waiting for Ryzen 2, unless I happen to sell my setup (unlikely).

I don't have any performance problems with my skylake PC but I definitely would take a serious look at AMD's platform when I do unlike back then.

I may upgrade my motherboard....but aside from that, I have no plans at this time.

Honestly, there is no need. Next year when Ryzen 2 comes out, that will be the time to upgrade again.

    Ryzen 2 = Zen+
"Ryzen 3" = Zen2 (probably gonna be different name for mainstream desktop CPUs)

    ----------

Too early to call a poll. Wait until release.

Yes, I know, but IMO, they should have called the new line up Ryzen+. In my mind, Ryzen 2 should be Zen2. I should have mentioned the reason for my statement in the post above.

Zen 2 is different arc, so obviously CPU brand name will be different.

Ryzen2 makes sense, since its on upgraded arc that is not totally different.
    Also see Model numbers:
    Ryzen 1 : 1600
    Ryzen 2 : 2600

Yes, I am aware of all of this as well. The issue I have with this naming scheme is that this will be confusing for the average consumer. These people will be confused, and assume that these new CPUs are Zen2.

Will keep mine, most likely. Ryzen 5 1600 and X370 mobo.

As AMD has confirmed socket and chipset compatibility up to Zen 2 a Zen 2 CPU will likely be my next one.

From 6 core to 8(+) core part depending on models and pricing at the time.
And as fast RAM as can be used / is available.

I would definitely consider Ryzen if it beats something like a 8700K in gaming applications. I'm not interested in Cinebench or stuff like that since I only use my PC for gaming.

My 386SX is still running without issues, so NO, I won't be upgrading, probably when a 986 comes out. xD
