Most of the recent NVidia launches are the same. Initial low supply, bots and scalpers buy up all the supply in minutes and try to sell on auctions sites for huge mark-ups. This will go on for for a few months for each version of the card. 2080ti launch was the same. When the card supply finally normalizes and are more available, the bots and scalpers will eventually stop as they will no longer be able to make a profit off all the suckers that fall into their trap. It will probably be two to three months before we can easily get a 3000 series card. As for me, I have a 2080ti that I bought a few months after launch and has served me well. I'll probably get a RTX 3090 when the feeding frenzy is over and I can actually purchase a card.

Not sure I’m even going to attempt to buy the RTX 3090 on launch day if the RTX 3080 launch is anything to go by.

Can’t say I’m to surprised however, there were similar issues when I ordered my 2080Tis, ordered in August and didn’t deliver until mid October.

The more I see...the less excited I am.

If you own a 2080 Ti, there's little reason to upgrade.

there's little reason to upgrade that soon, this isn't a 5950U to 6800U moment :) or even a 8800Ultra moment...
that ultra does sound procreating sexy...

3080 Ultra does ring a lot better than Titan or 3090... sounds more exclusive... more special, even if the bump isn't all that hyped to be for the $$$

Now the waiting game to see who gets more stock in. Nvidia really should pump these cards out to meet demand. Until the new year, as soon as these come in, they are gonna sell out quick.

It's just because it's priced right, otherwise it's better than 20 series, but not overwhelmingly better. I suspect by christmas we all will have a 30 series card, if we want to.
No need to rush now, just a little bit more waiting. As for waiting for a new batch, or supply, I had this with my monitor that had to come from overseas. I still ordered it and had to wait for a month to arrive in my country. Was worth the wait though.
So don't get me wrong, if I order this card today, I too would want it within a week. But unfortunately with new products, it can take a bit longer.

It's not a big step up from a 2080ti, but it is over the 2080 and the super. The price makes them quite attractive though.

Although a 3080 would have been great my 2080s is enough to play the division2 @4k with mostly very high setting, also ACC runs very high @1440p 75hz on 32" simrig screen so no rush here....next year maybe....right about the time they announce the 4xxx lol

Leaks show 3090 only being at most 10% faster than the 3080.

3080 with 20GB VRAM will be the one to wait for...but then again, seems like newer games are using less and less VRAM because of massive improvements to texture streaming.

I'm not not worried about the 10GB. As you say, texture streaming is improving. It should hold out 1-2 years and for the price that reasonable time to upgrade to next gen of cards if the VRAM usage surpases the 10GB limit on this card and still recoup some cost of the card by reselling it.

Well I was planning on the 3090 to replace my 2080 Ti, which I was going to put in my mom's PC. Now rethinking that... it'll basically depend on stock too. If the 3090 doesn't sell out, it may be more attractive for me, because I'll actually be able to get one in time for Cyberpunk 2077.

The 3090 is NOT an 8K gaming GPU. That's likely still 2 generations away, and I doubt even Hopper will be able to game at 8K with new games unless they have DLSS.
