I was thinking building a specifically a gaming rig in the future, Due to all of my time is heavily invested in 4-way sli tuning, I do play games but alot of my time is tuning. Would love to sit back and give it a break and play a game or two.

I might wait for the refresh to come about, but really looking into the 3090 at this point.

If i had money to throw out that these things i probably would already bought new pc system, I dont so i choosing to get ps5 first then do the pc cause at that point we will know what ps5 can and can not do and. this way my pc is always more powerfull then my consoles :)

I'm going to look for (and look at) reviews on the 30xx cards. But at the outset, the 3090 is my first choice.

If nvidia is lifting NDA for the FE cards for Reviewers on the 14th perhaps they'll start their FE pre-orders around that time too, before the 17th.
All the AIB cards seem to be pre-order /buy no sooner than 17th.
It's gonna be like an ebay auction trying to get one of these i suspect. (lucky i'm on holiday that week, and the week after -thank the heavens.:D

I am waiting for review, to know a little bit more about the architecture, to know the real game/boost clock and the potential overclocking ability, to see what big Navi is.
In the end it will be either the 3080, Big navi, or waiting one more gen.

I'll probably get a 3070 next year after they get cheaper. Probably. The thing is, besides VtM Bloodlines 2 and Cyberpunk I don't really feel like I wanna play other modern games, so basically I have almost no reasons to upgrade other than seeing some new tech. Kinda sad this is the situation, but gaming in 2020 doesn't feel like it's what it used to be when I was desperate to get home from university or work and raid with my friends in WoW circa 2005-2007. Now, that was magic. What we get sold today as gaming feels just... boring.

I'll also wait for the review but likely get a 3080 to get closer to maxing out my 166hz monitor :)

I am in the same boat. After a huge game burnout I was heavily invested in VR tho, although my enthusiasm for the Rift has also waned and it's collecting dust in its bin on the floor. And even then, being aware that my GTX970 (!!) is old like hell, I did actually "ok" for all my needs. I never felt I "needed" to upgrade, and the same is true for my overclocked 4770k system. (I don't need a high-end system if I all I do is write articles for my work and browse reddit :)

Only now, FS2020 really, really wants me to update as flying in a sim, especially in VR is something entirely awesome.

The 3070 is most-interesting to me as the idea to get more performance than w/ a 2080TI for €499 is INSANE. This makes such a purchase "meaningful"..and of course it still would be an insane update over the GTX970. (Of course I'll also update the rest of my PC for it).

I share the opinion of that reviewer on...pcgamer (???): He sort-of pointed out the craziness and sort-of gave condolences to those who may maybe just gotten a 2070 S or 2080 or similar...now with a card on the horizon which will wipe the floor with them for a much lower price. The 3070 is the card you CAN get with a good consciousness even if you're only casually gaming, and it's also the card to get should you want to update again in 1-2 years. That being said I am waiting for real benchmarks.

We've got a lot of potential 3090 owners :) Still, after the 3080Ti rumors I'd personally feel that it's a waste of money to buy a 3090 considering how little extra performance it would yield over the 3080Ti (if the leaked specs are correct).

Voted for 3080, but tbh I think I'll skip this generation as well...
Performance may be great, but most indy games I play run just fine on 1080, so no need for new card.

I'll buy a card that offers raytracing when more than 50% of the games produce actually offer meaningful raytracing.
Right now those games are still very rare ...

... maybe in one year time it will be different.

    ---
Plus, I'd like a memory upgrade too, going 8 -> 10 just doesn't feel right.

I will probably try to get the equivalent of the 3080Ti at Q1 2021 I guess.

I would never buy it blindly without seeing what AMD does and before Nvidia inevitably "answers" to that.

^This. After 2060S, 2070S and 2080S you could easily decide to not buy 2070, 2080 or 2080ti. And RDNA 2.0 is very unknown to us. It is a wise and mature thing to wait for more to come. These Holidays we will feel the game!

Also the 3080 feels like a way too powerful card for only 10GB of VRAM, especially with the 16GB consoles right around the corner.

May I ask why? Just curious why you would pay 1500 when the 3080 is 700.

Im personally getting the 3090 because at 4k you need every bit of available performance... plus i see the 10gb vram on the 3080 becoming a problem at 4k sooner rather than later.

Had there been an inbetweener (3080 ti) with 12gb vram at like 1000 usd, i would probably have gotten that instead.

True, but the 3080 ti probably wont be relased till it's been at least half a year, just as with previous times where the TI got released afterwards :)

Exactly the reason it feels wrong to go from 2080 ti to 3080... a gpu upgrade should in no way be a downgrade, which it would in regards to vram.

I've put my 2080ti out for sale here in Sweden. Getting som low to ok prices as the market has now been flooded with used 2080 cards, Sweden is a rather small market. and the tech nerd forums I'm a part of are full of even more snobby know it alls that frown on all prices.
The 3000 series premieres here on the 17th of September, all booked up! If I get rid of my 2080ti now I Have nothing to game with for at least 2 weeks. If I sell my 2080ti next week the process might drop more!
This, people, is what we call INDUSTRIAL FIRST WORLD ANXIETY!
