I have a 1010 watt PSU from OCz rated with 4 12v rails @ 20a each, will that be enough to run a GTX 580? Thanks!
I don't see why not... Also, update your profile since well, it's obviously outdated if you're trying to run a GTX580. deltatux
That depends. Are you planning to install 10 DVD drives and 20 HDD's, a sound card, 4 Raid Cards, and one of those light up USB Christmas Trees?
2xGTX580 i7 975 @ 3.8ghz 6gb dominator 1xHDD 2xmonitors = 819W in furmark without the power limit. why even ask that question, I mean it cant be hard to find that on the internet?
NExt question: http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_gamexstream_power_supply_1010w-eol Thats my PSU, it has 2 6pin PCI-e ones, no 8 pin direct. Should I use the Y connector and do: rail 1 +2 = 40a combined to make a 8pin use 2x molex from rail 3 to construct the 6 pin (Adapter) they gave also. Best way to approach this?
A 1010w psu without 8 pin? Most be a old one. Cut the 6 pin adapter one so it can be a 2 pin, then join it with a 6 pin and you will have a 6 pin and a 8 pin. I have done this before folks.
LOL.... I wayyy more than enough! It would be enough for 2x 580 i think.... Edit: There are converters for 6 to 8 pin PCIExpress i think...
the converter you're talking about is a dual 6 pin to 8pin (75w+75w =150w). he only has two 6pins. so he'd still need a molex adapter. my gtx580 came with a dual 6 pin to 8 pin adapter. what you get with your bundle is dependent on which brand it is.
