I can afford a GTX260 55nm SSC, but was holding off to see if the price goes down.

Will the release of a more powerful single card push down the price of the £236 card?

I've seen a GTX285 or two for £310 if that helps you economists out there judge :)

Possibly slightly, but not enough to really make a difference.

yeah.... i'm pretty sure that the majority, if not all the price slashing due to new releases has already been done. there's a chance it could drop slightly.... but it probably won't be much anymore.

Might order one tonight or tomorrow then.

Anyone know as i can't check for obvious reasons - Does EVGA step-up let you step-up from the value of your receipt or the value of the card at the time?

EDIT** Huh, whaddya know? the farcry 2 offer has closed :( but, it comes with a voucher for mirrors edge, which is great! Game should be a breath of fresh air.

I think that is so. They have my receipt registered on the step-up site at what I paid 293.00. When I'm ready to use it I think that's the number they will use to subtract. You can read on that site what the policy is . I read that it is according to the current selling price of the card though.

Dabs.com did have 2 different GTX 285's listed last week, someone on this forum here linked to them. Can't find the thread again thou.
They were £315-£320, on of them was XFX.
So looks about right, we'll know 2mrw though !!!!!!!

It prompted me to get the EVGA 260 SSC 55nm from Scan.co.uk instead and save myself £100. I got a 'today only' deal on mon 12th PM for £220 inc a free 2Gb MP4 player (also I get free delivery with them).

Oh I didn't get a voucher for mirrors edge with mine, nor farcry 2 :(
I'm at work 2nite but i'll recheck inside the box etc etc first thing 2mrw and see if i'd missed it.

Krydel: eVGA's step-up program works off of whatever you paid for the card. If you buy the card now, no matter what price it drops to, you'll get however much you paid for the card when you bought it put towards the new card.

Uuh.... and i wasn't aware that eVGA's step-up is now available in europe.

If anything, its GTX 280 prices that will drop, given that newegg has the 285 cheaper than the 280. This would probably bump the other cards down $20 or so as well.
