I'm about to upgrade my computer in the next week and i've got a question about upgrading. Right now I'm usin Vista Home Premium on my (yuck) A64 3200+ Venice, my Shuttle mATX board with 2gb ocz ddr400. However I plan to upgrade to: Phenom II x2 555 (will unlock) the E51 MSI board, with 4gb of adata ddr3 1600. Planning to keep my 2 Hard drives, my PSU, My 9800gt GPU, dvd drive, and my xfi w/ sound board. Will I have to format my HD to install Windows 7 home premium 64bit? I was hoping that I would be able to just upgrade or something. Anywho, just lemme know. Thanks!

You can do an upgrade directly from Windows Vista Home Premium given that both are 64-bit.

Else, you need to backup and format.
