Why don't keyboards have trenches to guide the wire out where you want?

Every time I buy a keyboard the wire always comes out the frigging back. Why can't I have a keyboard with trenches underneath to guide the wire out of each side of it?

I have the Keyboard on my Desk, it only makes sense to have the cable coming out towards me and under my desk... not out over my desk making a mess...

Also why are there no ergonomic Mechanical keyboards or wireless mechanical keyboards? My only option is the Microsoft Sculpt thing, it's comfortable, but the keys feel like crap and the wireless performance is sketchy at times.

Just give me a Model M that's the size of the iMac keyboard (obviously it'll be thicker) and has the option to run the wire underneath it and out any side you want.
