    The fact is that I only upgraded the memory from 32 to 96 for the sole purpose of installing win2k. <br>

    How hot is hot (ie when the fan activates itself?)<br>

    Hi, i've had a look for hard drives on the internet, and basically they are selling drives that are a gigabyte larger that mine for something like <IMG SRC="smileys/eek.gif"> $120 <IMG SRC="smileys/eek.gif"> , (is this the type of price i am looking at?)<br><br><i>This message was edited by yoko on 17 Jul 2001 03:54 PM</i>

    Well, what are you planning on running/keeping on that machine. That is a useable amount, as long as you don't need much storage. And you can go ahead and run Win2k and see what you think. It will run on your specs (like I said, I've installed it on worse); it just won't be any speed demon. I say give it a shot. If it's too slow, then upgrade it.

    I really don't use it that much. Basically, Visual Basic, Office, WEB Browsing. That type of thing.<br>
    Just another question: When i Upgrade it will ask me if i want to keep my present infomation (something like that,) if i say no, what happens?<br>

    The fact that i haven't got any disks (driver disks) for it, will that matter?<br>

    a 10gb 2.5" IDE should cost about £120 so around $160<br>

    on my old laptop the fan kicks in after about 15 mins<br>

    If you say no, it will allow you to do a clean install (highly recommended!!). You shouldn't need driver disks for most things, it should detect most if not everything. I would boot from CD, and just do a clean install.<br>
