I have been looking at 2 heatsink/fan setups for an intel quad core processor, (probably a q6600 or q9300) but here are the two links... tell me which one you think is better. If you have any other reccomendations on heatsink/fans let me know, but my budget is about $50. the two I picked out are the thermaltake spinq, which I am considering, and the Vigor monsoon. I really dont know which would be better, my mobo supports 3 pin and 4 pin coolers, so it doesnt matter. I do plan to overclock though... just so you know:).

scoter man: first off i'd probably go with the Q9450 if possible rather than the Q9300.

SurrealX: Think you forgot to mention the Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer. Also quite the nice cooler (which i'm using), and quite cheap too.

Edit: also thought it was funny..... never heard of that Thermaltake SpinQ.... so i went looking. found a review on Overclockers Club. Kinda funny how they said that the cooler uses a fan unlike any they've seen before.... when GigaByte has been using central-mounted turbine-like fans for a couple years now.

That SpinQ has 6 heat pipes so it looks like a good performer also if u have so little money dont get a quad its useless u can get a far faster E8400 E8500 or E8600 for under £200, $400?

    Vigor
Pros: ****ing huge, PWM controlled fans
    Cons: ****ing huge

    Thermaltake
Pros: smaller, looks cooler, its thermaltake
Cons: 3pin power + knob control (not as good as PWM)

I have a Zalman CNPS9700 and its pretty bitchin: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118019

    So, I'd go 1) mine 2) spinQ 3) Vigor

True 120/Tuniq tower, Sunbeam core contact or Xigmatek 1283(with its bracket) , If you dont get the xigmatek bracket the default installing of it will be annoying. thats why I not using mine Xigmatek atm til I get the bolt bracket to use it on my new board.

yeah.... i'd have to say either the Xigmatek or the Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer. My temps right now on my Q9450 @ 3Ghz is 47C. I could probably get a better temp than that..... been thinkin about trying a different fan i have lying around..... or reseating it. Not sure if it could be that i'm using the Tuniq TX-2 paste rather than Arctic Silver too. Or.... it could just be because it's a quad core that it's running 13 degrees warmer than Neozen's. lol.

its too bad that all of these heatsinks look i dont know... unfinished? its just some fins and copper, I mean, the one I suggested at the top of the thread actually looks pretty good...
