I am torn between EVGA NVIDIA GTX 480 Graphics Card - 1536MB at £185.00 and the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores 732MHz 1280MB which I can get from Dabs for £212.98 which a free download voucher for BF3.

The 480 gives a bit more bang for my bucks but I am concerned about its age, power consumption and heat when compared to the 560.

    What would you guys do?

Wait for Nvidia's new gen kepler, said to be released in around a month. Or if you can't wai then eitehr grab a gtx 570 (best of both worlds for the most part) or go with a gtx 480 as it'll be more future proof due to the extra vram.

Between the two, I’d take the 480. Personally at this time, I wouldn’t buy either.

if you go with the 480 then at least you can use the back of the card to cook breakfast and the sound of the fan to drown out your girlfriend/wives voice when she is yelling at you. it does give around 10% performance increase over the reference 560ti though. the 448 is a toss up on performance but is twice the card. it very refined, cool, quiet, and an oc beast.

Will the op not be bottlenecked with his Q6600?

Not really,it sjould overclock to 3.0Ghz easily enough and then it'll be fine for most games as long as OP games at around 1080p.

I would wait for keplar before you buy anything, even if you still want a 480 the price of it should be even cheaper once keplars out.

I should probably point out that I have got a maximum of £250 to spend but would like to save a bit of money if possible. I am looking at the 560 Ti 448 as the 570 does not seem to offer a massive increase for the additional money on the benchmarks I have looked at. I used that 560 Ti 448 card as an example but would consider others

The 480 seems to offer the best stats but as 200+ says I would be able to cook my breakfast with it whilst drowning out the wife's nagging. Given the confined little space in which my tower resides this may be an issue especially in summer.

How much of a difference would the new range make especially at my price range? I am happy to wait a little to make sure I am investing wisely but would it be worth waiting?

At this time, we have no reliable performance data for Kepler. We should see such data around launch time.
