    Hi,

I don't know if this is the right place for this question. I first thought of posting on the nvidia support forums, but then realized they wouldn't look favourably on someone asking about a softquadro mod. Anyways, coming to the point - which is better for gelato? A softmodded 6800 NU, or a 7800gt? I can get a used 6800 NU for half the price of a used 7800gt. (both PCI-E). I searched here, and found this -

So, I'm a bit confused.:frown: Can anyone help me here?

Don't be confused, Gelato speed is 99% dependent on the CPU - even if you were to swap a Quadro FX 700 card with a Quadro FX 5500, you wouldn't even notice the difference in rendering speed.

Ohhh. So, if it doesn't much use of the gfx card, a 7800gt would give same performance as a 6800 ?

Don't get me wrong, Gelato uses the GPU a lot, it's just that the GPU assisted rendering performance does not scale with the GPU performance that much.
My bet is that 6800LE will give roughly the same performance as a 7900GTX.
