    Hi all,

I am just wondering which version of Afterburner to use and which is the most stable?

    I have a 3080 and Windows 10.

I am looking to monitor it and undervolt/fan speed

    thank you.

Only 4.6.3 beta 2 and beta 3 supports the RTX 30 series.

Be aware that third party fan control causes BSODs when returning from sleep with driver 457.09 and later.

Would it be safer to get 4.6.2 then?

I dont use sleep so hopefully that’s not a problem.

just wondering why later beta stopped supporting the 3080

Well, that version does not support 3080 ... so not a good choice.
get the latest beta you can find.

Afterburner 4.6.3 beta 3 is the latest (testing) version; support hasn't been dropped. (Posted on 2020-10-16: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/rtss-6-7-0-beta-1.412822/page-131#post-5843388.)

RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS) has a separate version number - latest is RTSS 7.3.0 beta 9 build 24084. (Posted today 2020-11-12: https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/rtss-6-7-0-beta-1.412822/page-137#post-5853794.)

    Thank you for clarifying this.

what is the difference between Afterburner and RTSS?

is the beta 3 of afterburner stable or should I wait until it is released?

MSI Afterburner is a GPU overclocking and system monitoring tool.

RTSS provides OSD functionality for Afterburner and third-party programs. That way you can view some of the monitored metrics in an overlay while gaming or running benchmarks.

RTSS is bundled together with Afterburner, but they are installed separately. When running beta versions, it's important to check that you're running the latest of both; If the development focus is on RTSS, it may have a newer separate download available.

By definition, any "beta" software is not "stable" in the sense of (at the minimum) "finalized". Beyond that, there can be problems that haven't yet been ironed out, so some functionality might not work correctly.

When new hardware is introduced, old software versions won't work, so if you want to use Afterburner with RTX 30 series GPUs you have to use the new betas. It's up to you if you want to participate in testing or wait for the final version.

That's right, and you was asking:
Look closely to the version number!
r_beans said 4.6.3 and you asked for 4.6.2

Everything else was already explained by others.

I get the impression you are not very experienced in computer stuff, working with beta versions and why it is important to pay attention to details.
So I'd like to recommend you to wait for the final release of MSI Afterburner 4.6.3 which then is bundled with the correct RTSS version.

Beta versions may still have some quirks, may not have all the features or may not support hardware to the fullest. Often it is up to the user to edit some config files by hand in a text editor and you better got to know what you're doing or you could mess up your config and have to start all over again.
That's why these beta versions (active development) is targeted to experienced users only.

Yeah I think I will wait.

I know you probably can’t answer this very accurately, but how long do you think it will be before it comes out of beta?

Thank you for your detailed explanations
