I'm considering buying a 4070 because I sold my 3070. ;)There is not much news about the 4070, I think it will reach the end of the year. Therefore, while the prices have dropped, I will buy a 12 GB 3080 or 3080 TI and use it until the next generation. PC without graphics card is useless.:D

No offense, but why would you buy the most expensive model of a midrange gpu? You could spend the same money and get a cheap 4070.

Never understood people who did that...

You don't understand many things people do. Anyway keeping on topic.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will get a 4090 if the price per performance is good. If it's not then I will get a 4080 16gig.

No point in getting a 4090 if it's only going to be 10-15% faster than a 4080 and costing double.

Literally none if the power consumption is true.

I am sick and tired of 300W+ GPU's being space heaters in my room. Might sell the 3080Ti as the 6800XT overclocked still uses less power, is cooler than the 3080Ti, and is more or less on par. RT is the only thing the 3080Ti has a real lead in, with FSR2 and in engine upscaling now becoming more common in games getting playable fps at 4K is not really an issue.

I will probably wait for RTX50 and RDNA4 instead and get a more middle ground GPU around the 8700XT or RTX5070 as long as they are 250W or less and at least doubles my current performance.

Nope, but let's be honest, most people are quite retarded with their choices in life.

Buying the most expensive version of a midrange gpu would deffo be one of them.

As is looking at a 4090 purchase from a price to performance perspective - if that is what matters to you, then you are not a halo product customer. Then a much more reasonable 4060 might be your thing.

    i wouldn't mind a 4060/4070... if affordable, a 4080

haha "Halo Product Customer" that's a funny one.

I just understand the value of a product and what is overpriced and what is not. I don't just jump in and buy because the company said so.

I would liked to have purchased an EVGA 4080..... Alas, that will not be the case.

So I'll stick with my current card till next series, unless prices are better than what rumors forecast.

I'll wait until the numbers come out. I've got decide what company to go with. EVGA was pretty much my go to, but now that they've bailed on the GPU market after getting screwed by Nvidia, I'm wondering who I should switch to. Kind of thinking ASUS, but not sure. At the same time, I kind of want to wait until that news cools down before I make any decisions. I'm honestly still pretty happy with RTX 2080 Supers. Kind of wondering if should jump ship for awhile and go AMD as well after the EVGA fiasco, but honestly, it sounds like both EVGA and Nvidia are at fault. With Nvidia being more at fault.

Again, i can see that you are new to this site, and i am gonna have to assume that you are new to the tech scene in general with those comments you are making... the halo product is NEVER a good prospect from a price to performance perspective (aside of when the government buys it for you). The last time the halo nvidia gpu was fairly priced was with fermi - that's maaaaaaany years ago. Ever since then, the halo product has always had a comparatively minor performance increase over the next gpu in the product stack compared to the often huge price premium. This is gonna be no different with the 4000 series, and the 4090. 30-40% faster than 4080, but more than twice as expensive.

And as i said (and as all veterans of the tech industry knows), you don't buy a halo product from a value perspective - if price to performance is what matters to you, then you buy a x80 card at most. You buy the halo product to get the fastest gpu you can get your hands on. And yes, that will nearly always be a bad deal if looking at it from a price to performance perspective.

I read about that. The 14900k is something to look forward to. I've already purchased some components and my current case is too small for the 4090. My new case has plenty of room and nice fans. It will indeed be cooled for low temps. I know intel makes a jump every 2 years. Whether it's the 13900k or the 7900x by AMD, they both will perform nicely with the 4090.

My current system will be used for streaming and as a backup.

Maybe, if the prices are the same, but I highly doubt it ... what we have seen in the past will repeat itself and maybe worse ...

It is such a pity when a marriage like this comes to an end. For all those involved.
But remember, you don't have to choose between them. You can love them both equally, but separately. The fact that they hate each other's guts doesn't have anything to do with you!
Just hang in there, buddy ;)

EDIT - back on topic: I'm interested in RTX 4080. I think. Still confused by the assumed to be different 12-16GB configurations though. Guess I'll wait for the reviews over here

So we are not sure of the price, and not sure of the performance so not sure of the card.

So... they want $900 USD for a 4060 Ti FE which they're calling a 4080, and using frame interpolation results of DLSS3 to pretend it's a beast? LOL, hard pass, you can shove that leather jacket up your ass along with your falsely advertised 4060 Ti, Jensen.

To think I was considering a 4090. Now it's AMD turn to crap the bed and disappoint us all like last time. If they do it looks like I'll be using my ol' 3080 for 4 years at least.

I was aiming at something around 500€. But by the look of things, this wouldn't be enough for even a 4050. Maybe for a 4030. :D

Yes, the 4080 16gb and "4080" 12gb are both very disapointing midrange chips.

But the 4090 will kick ass - it will be something like 80% faster at 4k than a 3090.
