    I have contacted the AMD Support; here is their answer;

    "Dear Uros,

    Response and Service Request History:
    I understand that you are looking for Windows XP drivers for Radeon HD 7970.

    We will be releasing driver for Windows XP, not sure exactly when they will be released."

    7970 linux driver just released, maybe xp is getting close...and XP is not dead, yet. Extended support is still in effect, at least till april 2014.:) Frankly, XP being the longest living Windows version, it deserves some kind of respect. Sure Win7 is better, but Win8 will come. However, there is no other like WinXP, yet.

    While I fully agree with you, that is a bad analogy. You can't force a piece of hardware to run on an OS that doesn't support it, which is the exact issue here. The HD7970 does not have any current XP support beyond the drivers that are supplied on the install disk. At this moment, AMD also doesn't offer any XP support for the HD7 series on their website. It doesn't get any more clear cut than that.

    In short, that 600HP Vette engine you can't stop drooling over is simply not compatible with the 1950's Bel-Air that you love to drive so much. You need to wait for Chevy to supply the adequate parts for the engine, assuming Chevy ever gets around to it.

    I just want to take a screenshot of my 8 or 10 core Vishera CPU in windows XP... sure would be funny.

    I once ran a 2.2 Ghz CPU and 2 gigs of Ram(after ram tweak settings it uses it properly) in windows 98Se... it sure was the fastest operating system in the world.

    Edit: when i installed Windows 98 SE it said it was the most compatible operating system during the install....

    Cant argue with that logic

    We currently do not officially support Windows® XP on the AMD Radeon™ HD 7900 Series. An upcoming Catalyst™ release will provide support.

    Please note that AMD Crossfire, OpenCL, and AMD Eyefinity will not be supported on the AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series when using Windows XP. New technologies introduced with the new AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series are incompatible with the Windows XP (released 2001) operating system, and will only become fully functional on modern operating systems. Both AMD CrossFireX technologies and OpenCL are support under Windows Vista and Windows 7 for the AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series
