What's the difference between the Pro variant and the regular Radeon Vii? I thought they had the same amount of compute units and vram size.

TDP seems to be lower. Asrock VII is OC so the specs are a bit higher, with slightly higher bandwidth. Radeon Pro is PCIe 4.0 x16.

Is there a notable difference in resizable bar performance improvement over the regular Radeon Vii?

Never had a Radeon VII, i only have the pro version and my motherboard is not PCIE 4.0. 3.0 is only supported. I read and watch some videos, i don't think its really that big of a difference in gaming performance using 4.0 vs 3.0. All my games run perfectly fine using 3.0 for the longest time now. But then again, i never had a MB that supports 4.0. And unless there is a workstation Xeon desktop that has 4.0 i probably never use them. All i use are workstation Xeons desktops/Cpus. :)

Also, sorry i don't know what resizable bar is really, i don't think my MB/GPU supports it. Picture above.

Wtf, how is there such a big jump on what seems to be the exact same die? I wasn't into hardware around the AMD dark days of GCN 2+ to Vega, so excuse me if this is common knowledge. Why doesn't the Pro 7900 exhibit the same behavior when compared to the 7900 XTX?

They are gimped in drivers so FP64 users buy the Pro variant.

Radeon VII was nerfed for consumers. The PRO VII was not limited.Just a typical corporate artificial market segmentation.
For RDNA3 there are actual hardware differences between PRO and consumer. Double VRAM and higher DP bandwidth UHBR 20 vs UHBR 13.5

None of the GPU-z app versions show any of the info. Card is nice though, big jump in performance compared to my Vega 56. It was only 350 dollars. Someone on Ebay sells them for between 350 and 370 brand new, the company is located in Slovakia and only took 3-4 days to show up.

I'm using Vega cards forever because of AMD fluid motion, shame that AMD removed it in the newer cards, seems like a very bad business decision.

Had access to a VII about a year ago and performance in games in 1440p was very disappointing vs. 6700 XT.

Is that really a fair comparison? I would assume a 6700xt would be much faster.

In gaming Radeon VII was pretty similar to RDNA1(5700xt).
And yeah the 6700XT is 30% faster...
But the Radeon VII was not a gaming GPU... The price/perf was bad just for gaming. It had other uses especially in the mining days.

Its not like you cant game on the Radeon VII. You can adjust settings use upscaling and becouse card has 16gb vram texture quality can always be on max.

Of course you can game on it... I meant at the time they released it there were better options for gaming. Like a 2070 that was 200$ cheaper and it was offering the same performance. Or if you waited 6 months you could get the 5700XT for 500$... Like I did :D

I game just fine using my Radeon Pro VII, 1440p bought a new monitor that has 75hz max settings pretty much any game or near it.

Yeah I'm also waiting for RDNA4. I don't know what I will get because they seem to play around with naming all the time but something at around 5-600$ that doesn't draw more than 300W.
