I have this problem especially when playing games. The game loops, like the graphics freeze and the sound repeats again and again. This goes on for a few seconds and then resumes back to normal. This process repeats regularly.
But whenever I plug in my ear phones the game goes completely smoothly! this happens to all my games.

Whats wrong, is it a power problem or something??!!!

My laptop by the way is a Dell Inspiron 9400

Hmmm, can u check the AC Adapter that came with the laptop? See if it says 65W or 90W.

If it says 65W then call Dell and yell at em for sending you the wrong AC Adapter.

I think you should try installing new chipset drivers, graphics drivers and sound drivers. good luck with your problem :)

This guide and this thread may be of interest. Apparently this utility helped alleviate the issue for some users.
