Finally took the time and addressed a problem. A pet peeve of mine, but annoying. Bought a iron skillet a time ago and although the end results were far more superior that those obtained using Teflon pans, it was a annoyance to get the skillet clean. Seems that its a "normal " thing, the surface finish is coarse, following the wet sand mould used in manufacturing. So, I took the matter in my own hands and started to smooth the skillet surface, using a axe grinder, and a electric rotational sander. Started by stripping all the old patina and rough parts, sanding down little by little, going from 80 grit down the 120-160 grit. After a quite a few euros later, the results were acceptable, but decided to go for a overall 180 grit finish. Very dirty job, and tested my patience quite a lot, a polishing an iron skillet is not for the impatient. Sorry for not taking pictures, I was on the "no phone" time frame, so I did the task without clock or looking at the phone. I am on the third seasoning turn, after meticulously rinsed and oiled the skillet. Maybe I'll add some pictures when I'll use the renewed skillet to cook some nice need. Cheers!
New job and as I think I am getting a grip on where everything is and what it is I am doing on my daily routines I get thrown a curve ball meaning that come Monday I am having to travel to the companies manufacturing facilities. A new location with an entirely new set of rules and procedures. I was over there today to recon the location, find out where it is I am going and yet I still have no clue where it is exactly I am having to go. Hate it, I run my life on knowing what it is I am doing, where I am going and what it is I am trying to achieve and trying to remove as many of the unknowns as I can and despite spending 3 hours of my Saturday off trying to remove the 'unknowns' I feel I have learned nothing other than a better way home that maybe avoids some BS road works going on on the M8 through Glasgow..
I was a broadband technician travelling everywhere, you newer knew where you were going or what awaits you at your destination(if you even got there). But it was never actually a problem, you think about situation operatively, if there is something I could not deal with alone I called for coworker to come and help me. Some things I seen were bad, some were stupid or dangerous, but most of the time it was manageable and predictable. Try to understand how things work rather than just memorizing everything, you will find your job much less annoying.
Woke up today to find out Finland won their first ever Olympic gold in ice hockey against Russia. As a Finn this makes me extremely happy. Today is a good day. SUOMI FINLAND PERKELE!
Thinking of when the summer will come with lighter and longer and warmer days and the women folk shedding garments and open hearted smiles. Beers in the garden and a long long summer holiday.
Just chillin, reading Guru3D, enjoying peaceful sunday with my wife, kids and our dog. In thursday and friday (because I've overworked myself, idiot) had some gastric issues + headaches and few vomits, but since yesterday I'm fine. Talked some half an hour ago via Skype to my brother, sister in law and their kids from Australia. Wife is preparing lunch. Weather outside is somewhat cloudy, but sun fights through the cluds here and there. Later we'll take a walk to local park, dog will be thrilled. Life is good Ha! I'm eating dried plums atm, my favorite fruit sweets since army days. This year my plan is to plant few plum trees in our garden so that we can make our own dried plums. I can eat these without limits
Back to square one, or rather zero. My beautifully polished skillet is sticky. Seems that the seasoning/patina does not adhere to a polished surface and food sticks to it during cooking. Something's wrong. Not the end of the world, though.
