Since you obviously missed the review. The 4890 gets beaten in most instances by the GTX285. Between the GTX260 SP216 and HD4870, the GTX260 wins in most comparisons. The HD4890 and GTX275 trade off in nearly all games....and in VERY few instances the 4890 manages to barely edge out the GTX285.

For me the cheapest and biggest upgrade was another 9600 GT. :)
Only cost me 75.00 and the performance increase was very nice.

I think he meant at the price 4890 is selling :\ GTX285 is loads expensive.

    I think a 4890 or a GTX275 would be equite good.

    I went 9600 GT to 9800 GTX to GTX 260 C216

The 260 kept me happy for a long time.

There's recertified gtx 280 on newegg for $224.99 if you're interested.

Depends on the resolution your gaming in.Ide go for a 250 GTS or a Core 216 depending on how much You wonna spend. As it goes for RED,a 4850 or a 4870.If your really downon cash,You can go for a 4770,Ive heard they do perform well for their price.

Uhmm yeah, wouldn't that be obvious since the 285 is a dual-GPU card? Now if you put 2x HD4890 in CF.... Let's see how that goes. :)

Either HD4890 or GTX275 for sure.

Went from a 9600GT myself, significant change to put it lightly :D

I thought the 275, 285 and the 295 were dual-GPU cards. So it's only the 295? :) Hehe, i've been away from Nvidia too long i guess. :p Silly me. :)

I overclocked my 295 to 275 speeds. so I have 2 275`s in sli on one card. there was an asus mars edition 295. It was 2 285`s with 4gb of ram. only 1000 were made and is damn expensive.

i'd go for the gtx 275. It's a lot cheaper than the 285 and 295 but it isn't all that far away in performance from the 280, conisdering the price difference.
