The 8800GT comes with similar mounting holes as the the 7900GT/GTX, so all the old coolers that were designed for the previous generation work on this card. Now, what's the best of the best cooler for the 8800GT? Zalman FC-ZV9 Fatal1ty? Zalman VF-1000 LED? Gigabyte V-Power VGA?
It is confirmed the Thermalright HR-11 & HR-03 Plus does not fit on the 8800GT. link: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...8800gt-512mb-superclocked-edition-review.html However with slight modification the HR-11 will. I am waiting to see some new cooling offerings for the 8800GT.
eh, i fitted a CoolerMaster Coolviva Pro onto this card (although how i pulled it off, i don't know how).
my 7800 GT just died, it was cooled with an zalman ZM-GWB2, It cools the GPU only, the memory is cooled by passive heatsinks. I'm wondering what the cooling requirements are for the 8800GT, and if my PSU/cooling can handle the load.
Your PSU is borderline, the only real way to know if it is going to be stable is to buy the 8800GT and hook it up. If you see any issues your first thought needs to be your PSU. Considering the low cost of PSUs I would just pick one up if I was in your shoes and considering buying a 8800GT. The stock cooling is definitely sufficient unless you are wanting to overclock or you just want lower temperatures.
oh, it cools really well. For the price it's at, and the cooling performance that it gives, it really is a good cooler. I'd have to say that this cooler trounces the VF-900 in all aspects.
