So I walked into CompUSA today just to kill time and see if they had anything new and noteworthy. To my surprise they have in their locked case a couple of EVGA 670 FTW cards priced at $399.99. I have to say I was tempted, but restrained myself. That does not mean that tomorrow I won't go back and pick one up. So the point of my post is would I see enough of a difference in AA and native resolution control (not to mention FPS but I can get that from reviewers benchmarks) to warrant an upgrade to this card and is that a good price?

It's a decent enough price on the FTW, but I've never been a fan of ChumpUSA - my college buddies would open the cards, use them, then seal them back up and slip them back into stock... nobody notices that??

Well I have to say I would have and not have walked out of the store without getting at least 15% off the price then bring it back and claim it was defective and demand a replacement. I can be a d!ck when the need is there.

Yea... I forgot to put a very important few words in there... my buddies (who worked there)...

They'd basically steal them for a week or two and then bring them back and put them on the shelves. They didn't treat them well either. Overclocking personal pc's during networking class became the norm for them.

Coincedentally, they all seemed to fail networking classes...

Anyhoo, the price is comparable to most online shops.

CompUSA was sold to Systemax (TigerDirect's parent company)

    The name stayed the same:)

Wow small world, I did the same exact thing, but I bought one..its still siting in the box though...just wondering if its worth it over the hassles of my crossfired 6950s...would be a drop in performance but probably less headaches...decisions decisions...if only compusa didn't have 15% restocking fees on there cards....

Just do it I'm glad I did the card works amazing and it performs right there with my old 6950cf setup that I stopped using because of the constant finickyness of the AMD drivers.
Here's a screenshot of my OC so far:

Sometimes it is best to "just do it."

Just take it out of the package and put it in your rig. If your fiancee doesnt like it, do you really want to marry a woman who comes between you and your hardware.
    Just listen to the OP.

I replace GTX 460 SLI with GTX 670. GTX 460 SLI are not as fast as HD6950 CF so I can not comment on 6950 CF performance vs GTX670, but you have first hand experience. Less bias comming from a 6950 owner.
In addition, you seem so similiar per your details.
    Both from Florida
    Both have 6950 CF
Both walk into COMPUSA and buy GTX670.
    LOL, finish what you started.

I meant the fiancee thing. Although he could use the restocking fee thing as a good excuse.

I'm at 1080p I need to try a custom res. on the card I used to run my one 6950 at 2560x1440 but would only hover around 40 fps in most taxing games with no AA(btw it was OC to hell and back at 910/1415 with the shaders unlocked). I will try the same res. tomorrow with AA on the one 670 give me some input as to what you would like me to test and if I can accommodate I will do so.

Thanks for your reply, truth be told I'm just worried it wont be enough at the rez I'm playing at. It would be nice to try the green side for awhile and only using 1 card....If you got time and want to test BF3 or Metro 2033 at your old rez..that be cool....

Okay I will try it tomorrow afternoon about to pass-out for the night. I'll just run them at the highest preset on 1440p. Keep in mind your results will differ slightly as I'm running 16:9 and your on 16:10.
