Ah the museum pieces that should be on show. My system was a 486, which was a staggering lightning fast: CPU 60(ish) Mhz, A monstrous 8 megs or RAM and a giant 850 meg HDD. It had Win 3.1 and I would turn it on, go away make a cup of tea, come back type "Win" ( or something like that ) I would go away make dinner, come back and with the blistering fast modem speed, spark up Netscape Navigator, .. yes, you guessed it, go away meditate come back and then I was ready to look at the best text with small gifs and jpegs the dub dub dub could offer in 95. Waiting for an hour for a 2 meg pron vid to download .. *sigh* the good ol' daze
My first PC was running at 150MHz and I believe I had a 2GB hard drive. This is when I bought all the parts and built my first PC
To be honest I don't remember anymore I do know it was running Windows 3.11 and had 4mb of ram with a 486DX processor. If I had to guess I would say prob around 100mb or less.
Atari 1040STe with an external hard drive SH205 of 20 MB.. ( end of 80's ) Ram inside it ( and it was the first to have so much ram ), was 1MB..
No idea what my Dad's first PC had. It was a 486 running DOS that's all I remember. My first was a 2GB HDD in a Pentium II 350MHz machine running Win98. Happy memories.
My first computer (Compaq Presario) had a tiny 300 MB hard drive, 486 DX 66MHz processor, 4 MB of RAM, 4X CD-ROM drive, diskette drive and a built-in 13" CRT-monitor which ran Windows 3.11 and was later updated to Windows 95.
First family computer in '97 had a 4 GB hard drive and made very loud clicking (don't think it could install modern Windows with updates ). My first computer (laptop) had 80 GB. Hard drives have definitely gotten quieter since then.
Very first ? I think it was about 100mb on my Amiga 1200. So great to not have to switch out floppy disks playing Monkey Island 2, that i had to replay it again for the third time. (First time with just one drive, that was a nightmare. Second time with two floppy drives was butter, but a hdd was heaven. Now i have over 22TB storage in this pc.. I got all my favourite movies and tv-shows stored in hd, who would have dreamed about that in the 80's? I loved the small fmv clips in games like lost patrol. http://https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Patrol_(video_game)
