With some recent upgrading of a couple PC's for home use I had a few parts left over. What on earth to do? Built a 1440p gaming pc a few years ago with a 3800x and 2070S. Had no issues but the wifes old PC died so she inherited this pc. Although not needed I upgraded the cpu to a 5700x and 32GB of memory. Installed a 1550ti as it's now used for work and web browser. I work for a global company and we found an excellent individual from our Mexican facility. Our company got his Visa squared away and he's been in Michigan for the last year. Jesus is not only an incredibly intelligent person who helps everyone with a humble attitude, he's also a just a great person. He recently got married and his wife will soon be joining him in Michigan. As someone who has been to Mexico numerous times for work, I have always been impressed with the gracious attitude and general friendlines of the Mexican people. It's only rival would be the good people of Sweden in Gothenburg. In a recent conversation with a co-worker who was building a new pc I asked if Jesus liked playing pc games and he emphatically said yes. I asked if he had a pc and with disappointment he said no. Just need a psu, case, M2 SSD, cpu cooler and motherboard for a good gaming pc. I am one of the fortunate ones that live close to a Micro Center and picked up an open box case and open box motherboard. The Asus ROG Strix Wifi II was $160 and the Lian LI Lancool Mesh II was $76.00. The new Evga 750 watt psu should arrive tomorrow and you just can't beat a Peerless Assassin 120 at $35. Really nice price drops on the M2 SSD's recently too First time working with a Lan Li case. This Lancool is an excellent design overall, fantatstic case especially with the open box price. Will continue to post the build pics and will give it to him next Monday at work. Throw in a 5800x3d and a gpu in a year or two and continue to game on! Long live the AM4 platform
Very similar to what I did with my old 3800x, I upgraded to 74gb ram and a 5800x3d so just picked up a MOBO and used my old cpu, 32gb ram and 6900xt, bought a lanli case and built a rig for my lad to replace his 2500k/2060ti system.
The rest of the parts arrive today. Installed the psu and Assassin last night. Will have some pics of the finished build later today and the reveal picture on Monday. Can't wait to see his reaction,
Waiting on an Amazon delivery for M2 SSD standoffs. Happens with open box, someone lost the M2 standoff for the second M2 slot on the motherboard. Will put in an Inland 1TB 3.0 that was from the last build. After that it's the gpu and power up. Have to say it again, impressed with Lian LI Meshcool II case overall. Not perfect but very nice for the price. Next case for me will be a Lian Li of some sort. Easy psu access.
I used a Lancool 3 in a recent build. Lian-Li LANCOOL III E-ATX-Gehäuse, Midi-Tower - weiß : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories Great case for watercooling, well thought out with a ton of options when building.
The 3800x isn't a hot cpu by any means and the Peerless keeps it at 71C during Cinebench23 all core, with all fans on the lowest speed . It's overkill for this cpu but makes for a silent rig. If he wants to get a 5800x3d one day he's all set with the cooler. Amazon arrived late this afternoon, the M2 standoff and the 3.0x 1TB finally got installed. Updated Windows, chipset drivers, utility drivers, graphics drivers. The gpu peaks at 65C during Furmark. All core speed during Cinebench23 was 4.2GHz. At work we have a 32" 75Hz 1440p monitor my boss said he would donate. It's nothing great but not half bad either, a good starting point. CPU: 3800x Cooler: Peerless Assassin 120 GPU: Asus Strix 2070 Super Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-F Wifi II M2 Storage: 1TB Samsung 970 EVO, 1TB Inland PSU: EVGA 750watt Keyboard: Corsair K63 Wireless, another item that was collecting dust I haven't been this excited to go to work in a long time
And now I have another friend on Steam and likely a new Guru3d member. He has done so much for others it was time for some karma.
That chair... @.@ Tho, having a robotic arm to dispense drinks while you are working / gaming is a nice option.
