What title are you currently playing ?

I got back to Anno 2205. I played it when it released and then put it down for a few years The art style is so beautiful and overall the game looks great even in 2023. I only wish it had more ornament type of buildings, more road types etc...

 

I am playing Halo 2 remastered. The game is somewhat confused and you can die an awful lot.

 

The Elites in 2 can sometimes be legitimately smart and unpredictable... love it because of that, never knowing what to expect.

Yeah, surprisingly good AI in the combat.
I think M$ did good job of the remake with nice textures and every thing.
Stands up well, even today.
Obviously it came with the master chief collection and so I am slowly making my way through it.

Sekiro and Witcher 3 DX12 RT version. Hunt Showdown adjacent to that, very excited for the technical improvements Crytek have said they are working on for Hunt, but that's likely quite aways down the track. Hopefully we'll get DLSS and Reflex.

 

I'm still surprised that World of Tanks on the PC hasn't had DSS or Reflex added. It got released way back in 2010. It runs very well regardless though, but there isn't really much going on in the game world apart from server side.

 

They’re really nice features to have. Especially games that don’t have great antialiasing DLSS Quality can often wind up looking much more stable to me. At really high FPS I don’t care that much about Reflex and I found Overwatch had this weird periodic hitching behavior on my rig when reflex was ON that it did not have when it was off and reduce buffering was used instead (though a long times past that was right when they added it maybe it’s been patched). At low FPS reflex is awesome since the input delay can be quite substantial though. My fear with reflex/ULLM is that perhaps prerendering can help certain games to not become CPU bound and thus maybe could provide more stable frametimes or less stutter. Usually it seems to work surprisingly well though.

Recently played CP2077, BF2042 mainly to test HDR and variable refresh rate of my new monitor and... League of Legends' ARAM mode from time to time, it's 15minutes non-stop teamfight, that's cool and doesn't take long.

 

The Bungie Halos hold up very well and make me sad about the current state of the franchise Halo used to be the best.

Actually a lot of old shooters hold up. I replayed Escape from Butcher Bay recently and I enjoyed it more than most modern games. What an incredible time that was — Halo 2, HL2, DOOM 3, Escape from BB, Metroid Prime, FEAR, all came out around the same time I recall. Good times

 

I don’t know what happened to game AI. Seems like AI never really progressed past the Bungie Halo/FEAR/Killzone 2 AI for the most part. If anything it regressed for many games. CoD campaign AI are painfully stupid. Basically just popup targets for example. Perhaps that’s too harsh though, I recognize it’s probably quite difficult to make AI that are actually fun to play against and don’t feel cheap.

Also what the enemies are doing varies so much by genre/game type it’s hard to compare. Sekiro bosses for example clearly had a lot of effort put into their movesets and how the player can respond to what they’re doing and how they can counter the player so you get these rather awesome “dances” back and forth which can be quite satisfying. But that “kind” of AI is just so different functionally to FEAR soldiers or groups in Halo. Or something Star Craft AI opponents and so on. Perhaps there have been more major advances for other genres.

 

My buddy told me he couldn’t get into it. Thematically the game seems really cool though so I may pick it up down the road on a good sale.

 

DCS cos the Normandy 2 map is out in Beta.
And flying a Spitfire under Tower Bridge on St Georges Day is pretty cool.

 

I recently started playing Sunder for Doom 2. It's... well it's something else all right!

Also playing Plutonia 2 and Sunlust which are challenging too but Sunder is just insane.

 

Im not a massively diverse gamer, the titles i do have i tend to play a lot but il be honest, ive never heard of 90% of the titles mentioned on here.
I cant be doing 3rd person games either.

 

Sunder, Plutonia 2 and Sunlust are all megawads for Doom 2 as in new levels / campaigns.

The map I'm currently playing in Sunder has more than 950 enemies...

 

Dying Light 2, this is one of many games I have in my back log.

I'm actually doing a new approach here where I only focus on the story although this is an open world game that has a ton of side activities. Only done about 2-3 side quests and a few encounters that were in my path. Game time is therefore only about 25 hours and I've almost finished the game.

 

Im not so much one for completing all side quests in various games but i do like to explore everywhere, in games like Metro EE you find all kinds of useful stuff.
