    Hello,

Finally I get to upgrade from my 6800Ultra pci-e 256 mb... But I dont know what to do.

Would you guys help me out ? 8800ultra? or 8800GT? or GTS??

Whats the best 8800 right at this moment? I want to buy the best so I wont bother upgrading in A LONGGGG time just like I did with my 6800ultra. Best graphics Ive ever had up to this moment.

    Thanks !!

That means Ultra is better for what your saying. The thing is wow it is very very expensive and that would definitely take a toll in my pocket.

The difference between 512 and 768mb... Is it that big difference?? Do we even use that much MB when it comes to nowadays games?

    Thanks for replying man.

Wait until the G92 8800GTS is released, it will be faster than the Ultra and should cost around $299 for the 512 and $349 for the 1GB. The 512mb will be released on Dec 3, no official word on the 1GB release.

You will only go over 512mb if you play at resolutions like I do (1920x1200). Anyone who plays over 1600x1200 will want at the very least 512mb on the card, but 1GB is what I'll be getting when I step up to the G92 8800GTS.

There is no guarantee that the G92 8800GTS will be quicker than the 8800Ultra considering there are no reviews out yet. However consdering the specs I will agree it should be close.

The only downside possibly could be the price.

There has been a lot of discussion about it across the internet and with the specifications of the G92 8800GTS compared to the Ultra on top of the G92's already hitting up to 950mhz on the cores stable with temps lower than G80's. I'd say it's pretty fair to say the Ultra will be dethroned. However we will wait and see :)

8800GT should be less than 240 not 300

If you really really want the best, just get an 8800Ultra , you will never regret it ;)

until you realize you just spent more money than the best G92 card which should be out by Q1 2008 ;)

best bet, the GT then upgrade to "the best" when its out at a late date.
the GT is THE best bang for your buck at the moment bar none.

Maybe you should wait for the next G92 which will probably be better.

agreed, buying an Ultra would be dumb until we see how the new G92 8800GTS 1GB does.

Why do they call it 8800GTs? It's pointless. It should be more like 8850GTX or 9000GTS. People will confuse the old ones with the new ones...

8800 GT, if you want more performance just get 2 for SLI :p

(assuming your mobo has 2 pci-e slots to support it)

I want to thank you all! for your replies.

I will wait for the GTS Ver 2.. To come out and I will probably hunt down the 1gb version.

What will the price be for the 1gb version?? It will be better than ultra so that means it'll go over $500??

I have a feeling the 1gb version will be the GTX or 8850 priced around 500.00 USD. A single core with a 512 bus and 1GB of memory...or... 2 8800GTs stuck together..
