On the highest difficulty, you need to 'strategize' a little bit more before jumping into combat, as opposed to just running in sword swinging. Find the weakness about the enemy, make sure you have the right potions, right skills enabled etc...

Otherwise it comes to well timed dodge and strikes, and using your abilities appropriately.

If games like FEAR or Doom 3 got remastered, they would have to be done in the newest versions of their respective engines. Doom 3 in idTech7, or FEAR in LithTech Firebird. Part of what makes those games so good, is the feel of the engine behind them.

Witcher 3 combat is much more fluent than the combat in the witcher 3. On higher difficulties you have to strategize, but because you can also sidestep, you're not forced to roll all the time like in the witcher 2. You're also much more in control of Geralts movement.
Going back to the witcher 2, I found the combat to be clunky and unresponsive in comparison. While the witcher 3 isn't as good as Dark Souls, also because of the nature of the game, I found it to be quite enjoyable at higher difficulty levels.

    Seriously, that would be AWESOME.

I agree with Quake 1 and 2, even Doom 3. With today's graphics, could be mind blowing. Even a F.E.A.R. remake would be pretty sweet. System Shock 2 would be epic. Ive always wanted a Diablo 1 and 2 remake but I honestly dont think it would hold up to today's standards, there are plenty of games out there that do it better like POE and Grim Dawn.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein? Yes please.

Thanks guys for replies about combat in Witcher 3.

Sounds good then! Will pick it up at some point I think.

EDIT: as it happened was on sale in Steam so grabbed the GOTY!

Thief 1, 2, 3, Deus Ex 1, Super Mario Kart, Starfox 1 to mention a few. Ah, Blood 1 too.
Lots of old games would do great with massively improved graphics.

I just want to be able to play demon's souls and bloodborne without buying a console or using an emulator. I've heard RPCS3 is decently playable now but I'd rather have a legit port running stable 60+fps without needing a crazy cpu

    Amen!

Though apparently RPCS3 can run Demon's really well, basically on par with PS3 original, needing "just" a moderately powerful system (say i7 or similar CPU).
30 fps max still, of course, but you could run 4K+ resolutions. Needless to say such a high res really makes the low quality assets stand out.

However you need to dump the game content from disc and that's pretty tricky.
You must either have a jailbroken PS3 (with very specific firmware version) or a Blu-Ray drive that can read PS3 discs.

I suppose you technically could, ahem... download it but that's another thing.

Exactly it's pretty tricky to do legally, and 30fps is pretty crappy even if it's how it ran on PS3.

I'm really disappointed they did a dark souls remaster which was already totally playable on PC and hadn't aged poorly or anything, instead of demon's souls which many people have never gotten to play at all let alone with updated gfx.

Bloodborne makes some sense cuz it's still a selling point for PS4s, but what reason is there to not port demon's souls?

You know... if I could... make a wish, just pick a game and have it remade/fixed....
There are a couple other titles I would love to see remastered/updated.

XIII - Love that game, but, it's got some issues these days with modern OS.

Vampire: Bloodlines - I would love to see how this game "could've" been when given the proper development time. Finished, on a finished build of the Source engine. Could be amazing.

Reason is the same as Bloodborne: Sony owns both IPs (and I think also co-developed them, both games have that Japan Studio logo when starting up).

Sony tends to stick to their exclusives and you can't really blame them, having games like God of War and aforementioned as platform exclusives.

If Demon's ever gets a remaster or remake, it will be for PS for sure.

Dark Souls' IP is owned by From so they can decide what to do and went multiplatform with DaS, PC versions being published by Namco Bandai and console versions by Atlus I think.
