I just bought a 1440p@60hz monitor and my old GTX780Ti can't handle games with ultra settings. I would like a +60fps in most games at 1440p with all video settings maxed out. What video card should i get 1070Ti/1080Ti or wait for the next nvidia GPU.
    Thanks!

what specs rest of your rig?

i use a 1070oc with 1440p @60hz feel its the perfect match for me, never any issues, max all games out.

if youre at 60hz youre gonna wanna hit a wall at 60fps anyway with vsync on. or itll tear all over like a sheet of a4 going through a shredder.

Ideally gtx 1080, however 1070/980Ti and 1060 will work just fine.

If your budget allows, go for 1080.

Might want to wait a bit, with all the obscene prices on 2 year old cards used&new due to mining... not that prices will go down much with the new cards, but at least you fork the money to a new-gen card.

I can’t always get 60fps in every game maxed out at 3440x1440p with a 1080ti. Take that for what it is worth.

I think they said something like next Month Nvidia rolling out new video cards but I could be wrong. Was supposed to be Volta right gurus? Team Green has no pressure from Amd so they can afford to take there time on new releases.

It should be 2-3 months max... that is if nvidia doesn't decide to milk the old cards a bit more.

The minimum for 60FPS 1440p is a 1060. But that's pushing it rather close. A 1070 is better. If you have the money, sure 1070 Ti is even better.

The above is if you want a GPU right now. Waiting for the 2000 series is up to you.

As a side note, please note that "ultra settings" can be overrated nonsense:

Me neither. Witcher 3 is an example, a 2015 game (a beautiful one though)...

Good choice performance wise. Too bad the price on all Video cards suck right now. That’s more than I paid for my 1080ti 8 months ago.

Are you sure about that? So far there's been no indication of a release from any of the two brands. Seems like loose rumors so far, nothing substantial. I think nVidia wouldn't mind living off current gen for another year and focus on selling their Volta servers instead.

This. Plus current gen is honestly powerful enough for everything. 1050/1050ti/rx560 great at 1920x1080 for mostly high, 1060/rx570/rx580 1080 ultra settings, 1070/vega56/1070ti high refresh 1080 and 60Hz 1440, 1080/vega64 high refresh 1440 then 1080ti/TXp high refresh 1440 and 4k. If the prices weren't ridiculous right now it would be a utopia for PC gaming.

It's not that current gen is not powerful enough, it's the fact that the cards are almost 2 years old and cost way, waaay more than their launch price. So for me it's a really bad choice to buy now, unless one absolutely cannot wait. What leads me to believe that nvidia will launch the next gen in the near future is the fact that they had some days ago a sale of FE cards of all the models on their store so they might be clearing stock. I highly doubt that AMD will come out with any new card this year, but I will be shocked if nvidia won't.
