I am using the G500 mouse which is unbelievably awesome. I was using the g5 but this mouse is substantially better, it just feels awesome.

I read parts of that article. I guess I would need to actually feel a mechanical keyboard before buying one. Not sure if I would care, but it seems that some people swear by them.

I bought a Coolermaster Sentinel mouse. Very nice mouse although it feels a little cheap in some ways. We'll see how it holds up after a year. I really like being able to switch DPI on the fly...very useful feature in games especially. I like being able to switch to 5600 when I am driving a tank in bad company 2.

Saitek Blue LED Gamers Keyboard (without the silly game pad add on that thing sucked).

Been using this set up for around year and half (including the mouse used keyboard a lot longer) and its done me great. The mouse did have some issues with randomly moving cursor due to rumbles of sound going through my desk from my speakers but nothing a nice decent headset sorted out.

I was lucky theres a store here where i could test them..I was apprehensive at first given its more expensive than the G15 (filco was SGD199 while G15 was SGD150) but when i tried it I was instantly convinced..but you must accept that there isnt any multimedia let alone any macro keys though..but for sheer typing pleasure its really worth the extra cost and reduced function..now my office keyboard feels mushy to type on :nerd:

    just for comparison

this is the insides of a G15

Keyboard: Original G15, with the 12 macro buttons and movable screen.
    Mouse: G5.

Love both but won't buy another keyboard with so many buttons, I hardly ever use the G keys. I only ever use them in EVE and that's it.

After I bought my G15 I realized it doesn't have a power key.

Also the LCD Monitor gives me BSOD.

I will admit I do like the feel of a mechanical keyboard. My best friend swears by them and that's all he will use, they do make typing easier and the sound they make when typing is... "reassuring" in a way :) Plus they are heavy as hell and sturdy, my buddy said he had one that he could litterally throw in the dishwasher, very cool if that is the case considering the times I've spilled drinks into mine.

Maybe one day of Logitech makes one I'll hop on the bandwagon, but I'm still happy with my G15 for now.

yeah, as long as we are happy with what we have then its all good..im just surprised that these keyboards exist and that they are not that known even for enthusiasts (im sure not many have heard of them here in G3D) thats why im giving them exposure so well have an alternative to the G15s , Saiteks and the Lycosas :D

I just replaced my original Logitech G15 with a new Saitek Cyborg and I use a Logitech G5 mouse. To be honest though, I think I liked my MX518 mouse a bit better.

    Edited to add pics:

He's very wrong when it comes down to the delay on ps2. The delay on ps2 is enormous compared to a USB keyboard. There's a certain trickjump on de_inferno in css which was never able to do consistently with a ps2 keyboard. Ever since I got a USB keyboard, it's been easy as pie because I can just feel the keyboard responding faster.

I'm using a logitech G15 (next time I'm going for smt cheaper though) and a deathadder.

Next time I have to buy a keyboard there's 2 things I'm going to look into:

    - Response
    - Water tight... aka "drinks" tight :p

from what i understand the PS2 is better because of the limitations of the USB in terms of maximum number of keys (6keys + 4 modifier) you can press whereas in PS2 (given you are using an NKRO keyboard) there is no limit

as for me, i just got fed up with uneven feel of keys esp over time when some keys feel mushy to touch..so i got a mechanical coz they say it will last longer than membrane ones

you were referring to this right?

Yep, I was reffering to that. I've been using a PS2 keyboard for years, thinking that it wouldn't matter. When I switched to a USB keyboard I immediately noticed how the delay was alot less.

A full n-key rollover isn't necessary imo, but 4 to 5 keys are handy. I remember buying a crappy keyboard once that wouldn't allow me to press strafe left/right and forward/backwards and jump at the same time, making me incapable of jumping in a diagonal direction.

Perhaps he's right and the delay of ps2 is smaller, but the actual result isn't, perhaps it depends on how long it actually takes for a interrupt on PS2 but ps2.
