I wonder if the 2010's do the same thing given they have a similar shape. It's kind of funny how the design did a full circle, starting with a box. Then it went to the late 90's early 2000's design that was ridiculously streamlined and aerodynamic. Then it started going backwards again, lol.

You could do more only most mercedes & bmw's are limited, unfortunately...

My Mercedes SL500 also does no more than 260km/h thanks to the limiter.

However I could probably get around 290-300 km/h out of it with the limiter removed...

I usually drive to work on the motorway between 140-170km/h, thing is it doesn't seem fast at all in a high performance car.

There are times I think I'm only doing 120km/h but I'm doing 140 or 155km/h, gotta keep an eye on the speedo.:bang:

Haha, i did not make anyone throw up, but mine friend was turned to paper white and told me he do not feel hes legs :D. Other was watching sidewalk at few decimeters from the window (two wheels) :), and that's about it, those was excursion when i got mine driving license (long time ago tho), now i like to drive fast from time to time, but usually normal speed (OK we can all agree that speed limits in normal roads are way too low).

Yeah, I've driven Jeeps before & they actually handle quite great, especially the Sexy Jeep Cherokee SRT with the 6.1L Hemi.:D

No offense but I doubt you'd get 180mph out of an SL500. I'd say 165 tops.

My '69 Beetle almost lifted the front into the air when going a steep downhill and reaching well out of scale, about 100 mph...

I recon you easily could. Reason being it does 162mph (260km/h) with the limiter.

Your saying that by removing the limiter you would only get a 3 mph difference?

Since the car is well over 300bhp it can easily do over 170mph with the limiter removed.

Many smaller cars having well under 200hp and engine sizes of 3L & less are able to hit 150mph and more...

An SL500 having a 5 Litre engine has plenty of grunt to hit 180mph.

yeah, but there is a lot to go from 260 to 300km/h..
trust me, even a 360 modena struggles to get there, and it's lighter with a better Cx

IMO, it doesn't get to 180. If you're chiptuning the engine it could get there, but from what I've heard only turbocharged engines have a real advantage when chiptuning. Natural aspirated engines have to be tweaked a lot more to get more horsepower. Also remember that the tach is always "optimistic". To get to 180mph it has to show 190...

This. Remap the car & remove the limiter. :)

Same with BMW M5 & M6. All limited to 155mph. Simply remove the limiter & remap the car and 180+mph is not a problem...

    160mph in a Volvo T5.
Thats with a calibrated speedo too, so i know it was that fast.
I regularly drive over 150mph, legally on public roads.

Wish I could do the same when driving to work in the morning...

Just remove the vehicles & speed cameras and getting to work would take no more than ten mins. :D

I'm pretty sure a 5.4 liter V8 pushing 383hp + aerodynamic body can reach around 170-180mph tbh. No way to find out unless we tried, so have fun kanej!
