I too would like to know this, especially since we're comparing stability at 85mph to 140mph in what is essentially a brick on wheels.

The scariest moment was in my Beetle long time ago. 40 mph on an icy road with cheap winter tires - and in a twist I was going backwards...Just looked at the rear mirror, luckily no one was coming towards me. Just realized that I need better tires and went to the shop straight on.

What if I made a thread titled "What is the fastest you've ever driven backwards?"

But anyways, I wouldn't go fast in a car I don't feel comfortable even driving the speed limit. I drove my friends' beat up Mustang a few times and his suspension and alignment was so bad that I didn't trust it. I don't speed in SUVs because they easily hydroplane or the brake distance is too long.

    Tell me about it...

My mum has a Ford Expedition 4x4, big bastard the size of a minibus. It's basically jelly on wheels and when cornering the car tilts & it feels like it's gonna flip...

It's only good in a straight line...

I prefer driving my Mercedes which sticks to the road like glue.

Well, in this case it depends on the SUV you're driving. My mom had a X3 which was like a sportscar glued to the asfalt and now her GLK isn't bad either.

Yes indeed, some SUVs are total ^&%* for cornering at any speed (looking at you Ford!!) whereas some are nice at moderate speeds (My Jeep Grand Cherokee for example) and some big old tanks feel great even @ 80 mph (Suburbans are lovely to drive). Allot of your smaller import SUVs are quite nimble on the corners... just not that great if you need to go off roading. ;)

Anyway, if we just talked about SUVs etc. this Need For Moar Speed thread would get boring very quickly. :p

So, anyone ever make a passenger throw up with your driving??? :nerd:

    Dude, you give me strength.

My highest is 125 Km/h in my crappy Suzuki Baleno. Was fined steeply immediately afterwards.

Shouldn't go that fast, but I was kinda slipstreaming a BMW on the high way. Normally the car only goes upto 160'ish.

I've also been a passenger once at ~220 kph.

I think I went 40mph on my bicycle a few times.

Scary at that speed, and my eyes start streaming in tears, wouldn't want to try it without any glasses on.

I keep it under 100 on the road, not worth the risk. No skill required to go fast in a straight line, but I can say....

    Vmax in Gallardo at Bruntingthorpe

105mph at Brands (short pit straight) in the Rex

The 1993 Caravan had a tendecy to "lift" the front end at "high speeds", causing the front end to wander.
