I just changed my graphic card to XpertVision HD2600XT sonic 256MB DDR3 .

I used Catalyst 7.7 as my graphic card driver.

However, I found that there is a problem occurring recently and frequently.

I have captured the ss, please anyone know this problem, help me to solve it, thx :)

p/s: before the error message appear, I found that there are many white dots like dead pixels appear on my desktop, then suddenly a small hang occurred, then the monitor become black screen. after 2-3 seconds, it turn ON again and show the error message and my desktop become normal, those dots disappeared.

    What happen ~!!!???

Well it looks like a temp problem. Have you checked your temps? If they are too high, set the fan speed to 100% and see if you still have the problem

Also disable vpu recover, it's pretty annoying

the temperature is 44-45c shown in CCC's ATI overdrive tab.

i think this temp should be OK right?

    correct me if i'm wrong.

p/s: I already disabled the VPU recover thinggy as u told. :)

Don't think there is any software to play with 2600 fan speeds yet.

    Your temps are cool man.

My card is 62 on idle and 71 on load. And I consider that very good. *g*

But remember CCC does not always provide accurate temps.
Have you tried ATI Tools or RivaTuner?

This is the temp I monitor with CCC and ATI Tools. The temps is around 57-58c idle.

Riva tuner 2.02 seems like dont support it because It always hang when I try to open its monitoring program.

    Hm can't really help.
I first thought that the card was OCed, but it think the shared memory xpert card comes with 800MHZ memory clock per standard. (Mine's only 700)

Did you run rthdribl to see if you get any errors?
Was does the scan for artifacts in ATI Tool say?

Btw it's not an AGP card is it?
What Motherboard model do you have?

    what is "rthdribl" ????
scan for artifacts in ATI Tool so far doesn't show any error after running for half an hour.

    It is an PCI-E card.
    I am using Gigabyte P965 DS3 rev 3.3 mothrboard.

rthdribl is also a free test tool to put your graphics adapter under full load.

    get it here:
    www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/

I found that it challenges your card even more consistently than the test of ATI Tools.
Good way to check whether your card is overheating.

The GA 965P DS3 should be new enough and ok.

Have you tried any other driver? The 7.8 Beta or the 7.6?

Try uninstalling ATI drivers, chipset drivers, install chipset drivers, ATI drivers. This usually solves driver issues. If the problem persists, try the card in another PC and if it still does it, RMA it.

Why would you change that card to a 2600XT?
They are nearly identical in performance and I'd guess the 8600GT is even slightly faster.

anyway - when you changed cards - did you uninstall all drivers, unintall the geforce in the hardware tab AND afterwards run driver sweeper tool? (You can get it from guru3d)

So a 8600GT to a 2600XT? Now that was a pointless upgrade... There the competitors of each other...
