What game started you on your PC gaming quest? I started out when I was about 12 yrs old with the original Quake. I had some 16MB Intel gfx card running the GL version of Quake. I remember I thought it was amazing and still is! I had some old P2 266 as my first PC and had it LAN with my next door neighbour who had a Riva 128. My mum went ballistic when she came home one day and found me up in the attic with my friend drilling a hole for the cable (she wasnt please at the other few holes which were drilled to get the cable up that far in the first place). Ahh good times :)

I played that game every day for about 2 years over the LAN and then got an.. wait for it... ISDN line and pwned people online haha. My ping was as low as 100 :O which was very good back then, in ireland anyways :)

Seen this on another board and thought it would be good here. So what started it for you? :)

Counter-Strike with a GeForce 2 GTS 64mb. I forget what version it was, but it was a few versions before they got rid of B-hopping. Then HL2. From then on, everythings a blur.

In all honesty I had a PC for a while but played my Playstation more...

    Untill Half Life came out!

Woah! That was the best game I'd ever played!!!

I have recently completed Episode Two and Portal and I don't think I'd still use my PC for games if it wasn't for Half Life...

    :)

Lemmings, Indy 500, Wolfenstein 3D and my favorite, Secret Weapons of Luftwaffe from Lucas Arts, back in I don't remember when with my smoking new 486 SX 25MHZ and 2MB of RAM. I remember when my dad upgraded to 8MB of RAM and WOW it became so much faster.

I think it was Wolfenstein 3D on a 286 or on lucky days at school on a 386SX (I think it was something like 14mhz) with 1MB of ram and a 20mb hard drive. I was a Amiga boy before that. All the other games looked and sounded sooo much better on my Amiga 600.

    Difficult one this,

Ill assume as in PC you mean personal computer (true meaning).

Commodore 64- donkey kong i think
    Amstrad cpc 464- Spannerman

AMIGA (BEST pC EVER) - Defender Of The CROWN.

Started on Windows based machines quite late.
If the Amiga didnt end up in its current state, id still be using it now.
It only tended to crash once every 5 years or so. Sigh had to end up with a "PC"

Current "PC" type - Doom was the first for me

Been playing games for sometime now- 25 years plus. Got hooked originally on the arcade SpaceInvaders. (Going nostalgic now).

I Like this type of laid back thread.

I started with Sokoban on a XT with a Hercules monitor and running SIMCGA.COM :D. Yet I remember when I got my first computer (a 386 DX 60Mhz), the first game I had was Carmen Sandiego, and the first game I bought was "Robocop 3", fitting in 4 5¼ floppy disks :). That was 3D fun :D

Heroes of Might and Magic on my brother's 486 DX4 100MHz. I could play that for ages - such an awesome game!

But I played loads on my brother's Commodore 64 all through my childhood too. I guess I can "thank" him for being the geek I am today :p

Cheers, im not that old. If you must know late 30s.

Even old boys still like gaming.

Maybe theres some even older gamers out there?

The settlers 3, on integrated graphics when I was about 13. I went a long time without being able to play proper 3D games, 'cos I couldn't persuade my family to buy an expensive PC with a real graphics card.
