To each his own, but I really dislike the BFG Edition.
The original release of Doom 3 is a far better game. It looks better, lighting is better. The BFG Edition adds more ammo and removes enemies from certain encounters, nerfing the difficulty in what was already a pretty easy game.

Also, I fall into that camp that liked the original flashlight mechanic. And the BFG Edition's new shoulder mounted light... kills certain sections of the game where you have to use a light source to get through.

Plus...Wulfen and sikkmod that only support the original Doom 3 just to name a couple.

Yep Doom 3 with SikkMod and Wulfen's texture packs etc. is far superior to BFG edition.

Sikkmod is perhaps the best graphics mod out there.
HL 2's Cinematic Mod is also great but comparing vanilla to modded I think Sikkmod wins.

Actually I think I'll skip this sale and go play Doom 3 w/ Sikkmod!

Edit: ah, this was the replay thread, not summer sale. Still.

    Nothing.

Once i've experienced the story of a game, i feel bored by playing it again. Multiplayer games is ofc another matter entirely.

Not a game issue; hardware unstable most likely.

I bet it's your power supply.
My seasonic was shutting down in game and it was a 1KW platinum. 980Ti SLI 1600mhz was pulling a lot of power in that game.

It never shut down in anything else funny enough.
    New 1200P2 EVGA fixed it.

I believe the seasonic would have been fine but motherboard surge protection was cutting on from excess draw. You might try disabling that too but 850w is low for an old 6 core OCed system.

Sikkmod is a good one to add some visual effects to it, other than that there are some newer shaders and a couple higher resolution textures are out there, and a parallex shader mod that adds some depth. I haven't really added mods to Quake 4, and I don't use sikkmod for Quake 4 because the version for Quake 4 is kind of finicky sometimes, but I know there are some threads on Steam for updated Quake graphics. I'll find them and update this post.

Sikkmod is ok, but there are some glitches with HDR mode, without it looks a bit bland or like vanilla.. Colorgrading has some glitches too, it use to be ok with older driver though.
