I loved my 5X. It got its bootloop of death a week before I could upgrade and i got it repaired under warranty and then sold it. Never had an issue with it with performance degrading or rebooting aside from that.

I'd have loved a Pixel 2 but the cost difference at the time between that and an S8 was huge and the Pixel 2 was having lots of issues reported too.

Enjoying the Samsung experience more than I'd have thought but Id definitely consider going back to Stock Google in Pixel or Android One. I just don't feel the need for custom roms these days but the option is always nice.

Most likely i will be upgrading to Samsung Galaxy S9 from Samsung Galxy S6 this year as the battery life on my S6 has beginning to show signs of wear.

  3. I'm still running a Samsung galaxy S3, cracked screen and a dead pixel line from top to bottom. I've replaced the glass twice already myself, but I got a cheaper glass last time round and it cracked much easier after I dropped it. Phone still functions but freezes a lot. So I'm considering DOWNGRADING to a none-smartphone...my Motorola Razer V3, flip phone.

In the tablet department I just upgraded from my Samsung tab 4 10.1 to a Samsung Galaxy tab S 10.5. Features a nice 2560x1440 display and is notably quicker. Purchased it off ebay second hand, excellent condition (no scratches, dents etc) for $260AUD.

Think I'll get S9 too, been waiting too long.

Also just found this cool info, it looks like S9 will be tiny bit smaller and wider.. which is a big bonus, wanted less not more.. thickness is imo not bad.

At first I wanted new A8 2018, but this thing looks heavy and too big.. also no 4k camera.. even my 3yr old galaxy alpha records video 4k.. talk about evolution in midrange market.

    Anyway, can't wait 27.Feb. :)

Something that have a almost clean android, sd card support and removable battery if they ever make one in 2018. And that is half the price of the pixel.. So maybe a Nokia, Xiaomi, LG, Motorola or something along that route. Need a good camera.

Motorola Moto X4 has "almost clean" Android and sd card support. No removable battery though. It also seems to have issues with some cellular networks....lol I still keep getting an error from "SprintDM" about having an "invalid sim card".... Been going on since I got the damn phone.

Nokia or Android One seem the best bets lately for near stock experience, decent phones and regular updates. I liked the Nokia 8 but it was too expensive and lacked waterproofing when i last upgraded, hopefully in 18 months time the range will have the comparable features.

Ladies and gentlemen I bring you Nokia 8 Sirocco
    [IMG]
    https://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_8_sirocco-9087.php

Its size looks perfect with 140mm. Nokia7plus is a 160mm brick phone, pass, shame really, up to max 145mm and it would have been perfect too..

So for me either this Nokia8s or Samsung S9 or maybe Sony XZ2.
Time to say goodbye to my galaxy alpha, finally.

Remember, there is also the Nokia 8 Sirocco if you have a higher budget.

Fantastic looking device and high end flagship specs. One issue for me is the small screen size, if only it was in the 6'' range.

I am waiting for a full review on both devices. Might get one depending on feedback and importantly having decent stereo speakers!

Nothing this year since I already got the S8 and the S9 is almost the same phone.
It was cool to see the Nokia8S and it looks great but my next phone will hopefully be the Galaxy X next year.
