I used to use Norton AntiVirus as well but now I got rid off it and gave Kaspersky a go. Seems to be good, taking less system resources. I like it.

    ABSOLUTELY NONE!!!!!!!!!

They are a waste of money, system resources, false positives....and if you keep your head outta your ass when you're surfing the internet, well....ya just don't get viruses. Yes, even with Microsoft OS, or IE vulnerabilities....I still haven't gotten any viruses, (firewalls are your friend!)....and am waiting to see this so called launch of the new worm in Jan. Haven't been hit by any of the others, and won't get hit by this next release.

    I use EZ Antivirus.

They offer a free one year trial.

It's a great program and its pretty light; it doesn't try and take over your computer like Norton or similiar programs.

Like morph416 said you don't really need them if you have half a brain. I haven't had one for almost 3 years but I upgraded to Zonealarm Security Suite and it has anti spyware and antivirus so I am ULTRA protected. It has always rocked and never had any problems with it.

Yes and no. If you're careful with your email and which applications you run, and only visit "safe" sites then you can generally get away without AV software, though a good firewall and keeping Windows up-to-date is still essential to keep worms out. However even "safe" sites sometimes get hacked and something malicious placed on the page that may hijack your browser, and good AV software will stop anything like that which gets past the firewall.

Personally I wouldn't be without good AV software. It doesn't cost much and (in the case of something like Network Associates VirusScan Enterprise) just sits unobtrusively in the system tray using minimal resources but providing excellent protection just in case.
