Tbh I would feel more comfortable with this drive at 6tb vs the 8tb seagate. Nothing but problems with seagate drives on my end. Rma a bunch of seagates. At least rma process is painless.

despite i don't like seagate too much, i must agree they have made a lot of progress in any domain since few year, i have made some few raid storage with them and no problem at all... jus a bit too noisy but that's my pov as people where (and still are) very happy with it.

of course i would choise WD red if for myself... but seagate is not so bad.

Could be useful for a definitive storage drive coupled with a ~512GB to 1TB SSD for system data.

Until it breaks at least, guess I would need two of them as backup. :p

EDIT: That said it can't be that difficult to add some more memory units to a SSD although I guess supply and demand along with the current pricing of SSD's means that we won't see "mainstream" TB sized units any time soon.

i wanna talk about the website banner.
It looks like "if you failed with watercooling, time to switch to our NAS".
Otherwise why there would be man holding a motherboard with no cpu and no ram, but a 240 rad mounted ( in a very very strange position ) over on the pci express slots ????

After formatting... 5.4tb? you put 4 of these together and you'll lose over 2tb just from formatting. Still, I'll take a few greens :)

... but you don't really lose it. It's just the computer addressing 1GB as 1024 instead of 1000 or whatever they advertise. So, really you just never had that much if you look at it that way.

Agreed. Out of all the hard drives I have used over the years, WD is the easiest to work with if you ever need to do an RMA. Also, I have 4 of the 4 TB Red drives in a raid 10 that I have been using for over a year. IMO, it's money well spent.
