If registry data is corrupted any cleaner will ruin them further.

If you're lucky and that's just under the CURRENT_USER you might get away with just creating a new user profile.

I did the clean install and still weird stuff in registry.
If I want to get rid of that I will need to format c drive instead of following MS advice etc.
The next test is start playing Elite Dangerous again and see if I get daily crashes.
The registry prob doesn't worry me. But crashes do.

Clean install means you delete all partitions, create them again (and format ofc) and then install OS.

PS May be you have dying disk, USB drive. Or may be you do some tweaks after the installation which results in such issue (we saw examples).

    Just to be clear,
I followed the instructions from the MS download stuff, but one of the things that was supposed to be done was the job was to format the C drive and click yes when asked.
There was no such instruction and I was not asked to do anything.
My opinion is that something in the system may have been repaired, but the format was not done.
I may add an edit one way or the other if good or bad things happen. (just for info of others.)

    PS love the quarantine.

    No crashes today.

I always use parted magic booted from a usb stick or cd drive (live) to completely zero the data on all drives before i do a fresh install of any OS..good lick with it..:)

    Format a drive to FAT32.
Copy all the Windows files from ISO to the drive. "install.wim" will fail.
    Run this from elevated CMD:

    Code:
    Dism /Split-Image /ImageFile:<ISOFILE>:\sources\install.wim /SWMFile:<USB>:\sources\install.swm /FileSize:4000
Change <ISOFILE> to the drive letter of your mounted ISO, <USB> to the drive letter of your USB drive.
It will take some time, say 5 to 10 minutes at least, until the command finishes. Your install.wim then is split to multiple parts.
Boot from that and install Windows. When asked for the partition to install to, delete all from your intended C: drive, select the empty space and click NEXT. Install the remaining stuff as desired.

Information for others who have a similar problem.
    Don't do the easy re-install.
Wipe the C drive and do a clean install.

Clean install of windows is should be more then enough to clear out those entries, if there there on clean install of windows your installing things after words that put the entries in there, I assuming you talking about wierd symbols? could be something japanese, etc there is nothing in Windows install that show up like that as far As i know, installing such program after install windows will do it. I know that install some MOD for skyrim would install folder in japanese if it was created by japanese user, so it not stretch that such thing could install such registry entries.

Over years I had such registry entries, but I knew what install them, it wasnt something random I just seen
