Been running tests on this card all day, getting some very odd results.

First run I get almost identical scores to the Asus Direct CUII from the Guru3D review minus the Physics score due to an i5 4670K processor instead of the 3960X used by Guru3D.

10130ish Graphics Score on the base runs with no OC over stock settings.
7600ish Physics Score on the base runs with no OC over stock settings.

    Using 1100/1400 core/memory clocks I'm seeing:

    9348 Graphics Score
    8496 Physics Score

This is repeatable 100% and it seems lowering memory back down to stock speeds (1250) improves the Graphics score and reduces the Physics score.

Just wondering if anyone else has seen a similar loss in performance when OC'ing or has any ideas what's going tits up with this one!!!

yeah I see it sometimes make sure power limit is up and you are not throttling due to temps.
Just restart may help to clear memory which sometimes can lower your score if run consecutively

Thanks will test the power limit. Temps aren't hitting higher than 81 degrees so I doubt it's thermal throttling, though not ruling it out.

Restarts didn't change the issue as it happened first run or fifth ;)

It's power target, memories are hungry. Raise power target and monitor VRMs temperatures.

If you are using any of the 14.x drivers the power limit is not working.

Ah now that makes more sense. I had power target set to +50% with AB, but if it's being prevented by the drivers that would make much more sense.

Is this being fixed in the next driver set or is it fixable in the next AB release?

Going to go do a run with the 13.12 driver :)

Anyone know a way around the power limit problem?

It's throttling the GPU back even at stock speeds at the moment. Getting an overall clock under high load of around 912MHz instead of the stock 957MHz :(

    Running 13.12 WHQL drivers
    OC'ing with Afterburner 3.0 Beta 18
    Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X

650W Corsair PSU on the Haswell platform
1200W Corsair PSU on my Sandy Bridge-E platform.

I Use Sapphire Trixx with Sapphire Tri-X cards..
Never had a problem with using Trixx.I do not use afterburner or AMD overdrive with the AMD cards.

I've got the same issues whether I use Trixx, Afterburner or unlock the power via Catalyst. It's an odd issue for sure...
