just ordered GTX 670, upgrading from GTX 580? I know 670 is about 20% gain, but not sure if it was worthy?

    Mainly play BF3. 580 cannot do BF3 @1080 ultra with 4xMSAA steady at 60FPS.

I can try to sell 580 or 570 (wife's) and get some money back, maybe. Or I can call the carrier to to stop the shipment.

The 670 will still struggle at 1080p ultra even the 680 struggles to keep 60+fps on certain maps with 64 players. On my rig with just 1 7970 I drop down to around 45fps at ultra 1080p with 2 cards its about 70fps minimum. BF3 is still not very optimized, also going from ultra to high settings is barely noticeable and will net you at least 10-15fps. Motion blur and AA deffered can be turned either off or down to gain more fps with minimal effect on IQ.

The 670 is the best price /performance of the whole kepler range. No you didn't make a mistake, it should handle bf3 with ease, especially you now have 2gb vram.
The kepler have moved on since release, now we can disable boost and softmod them, opening up the opportunity to watercool em'.
and drivers have matured, nevermind those old benchmarks online.

I have Motion blur off, but want 4xMSAA on. 580 can do fine at 60FPS with 0xMSAA, Motion blur off, Effect High, SSAO.

Why would u wanna disable boost?

Because the boost feature is mindless, it goes beyond what it can handle when OCed. Also when it kicks in it's noticeable in-game at times.

IMO the 660 Ti is much better price/performance, as it has almost the same performance as the 670 especially when you overclock the memory.

A second 580 would be much better than a single 670.
580 sli can handle bf3 with ease maxed out at 1080

Going from 580 to 670 is a good choice if you had to upgrade and you get it for a good price.
More video memory (providing you weren't using a 3GB 580)
75watts less power consumption under peak load.
    20% performance improvement

But it still won't give you constant butter smooth 60 fps in BF3 or FC3 or AC3 or Metro or etc @ 1080p with all the settings maxed out.
On the bright side, if you play a game like Skyrim then 2GB of vram gives you more graphic mod room and your electricity bills will be lower.
A 670/680/690 is fast becoming old tech.

OP keep the 670 if you feel the need add another 670 for sli then you will be able to max out all current games @1080. If you want to go the cheaper route buy a used 580 for sli. You wont be able to max out all games but you can run some of the newer games like FC3, Hitman Absolution at very high settings

Well, I called the shipping carrier and asked them not to deliver the package so I'm keeping the 580 for a while and not playing BF3 maxed out. GTX 770 and 780 coming soon enough, I guess...
I dot not want another 580 with only 1.5GB

Well I went from 3x GTX 580 1.5GB to 3x GTX 670 2GB and in all fairness not worth the upgrade - max 20% at best is the difference. I should have waited for GTX 780, but I had the GTX 580 for nearly 2years and was itching to upgrade - I could easily had waited 1 more year.

I agree, there is really no point upgrading from GTX580 at this moment.

GTX580 still have enough power...come on people.

Ummm... I maintain 60+fps on a mix of High and Ultra settings on every map in BF3 with a single 670 OC edition? Most of the time I'm hovering around 80-100 FPS and have never seen my 670 drop below 60, even in 64p games.

Agreed. OP I'm trying to hold out for gk110. Its released as a quadro card and hopefully as a desktop card in 2013. Current cards aren't worth it to me as an upgrade

I 2nd the 2nd 580 lol. I think you can pick them up quite cheap now? Maybe a used one could be an option.

Important thing though also... I recently changed from a wireless to wired connection and this improved the consistency of my frame rate. Just in case you don't have a reliable connection. Also worth taking into consideration, is that the latest Aftermath DLC is a bit more demanding, especially with 64 players.
