If you need to low level format your hard drive then check the drive manufacturer and download such an utility from its website. Every drive manufacturer provides just such a utility. Here is a list of hard drive manufacturers with a links to low level format utilities:

    Note:
If normal (high level) hard disk formatting is required, you can use DOS FDISK command to first erase and create partitions and then use FORMAT. It is also a good idea when you hard disk becomes inaccessible to see if it is just the system files that are corrupted. Most of the time, it is the case. SYS will do the job of replacing system files. Therefore, low level format is always of LAST RESORT when you encounter HDD problems.

    That's true.

Official release notes says something different:

Open Issues in Version 77.72 (06_29_2005_updated)

    GeForce 6 Series
    • GeForce 6800/6800GT/6800 Ultra, Windows XP, Windows XP
Professional x64: NVIDIA Overlay gamma controls under Standard
mode do not work properly, resulting in overly dark or overly bright
    video.
    To work around this issue:
1 From the NVIDIA control panel, click the Color Correction menu tree
    item.
2 From the Color Correction page, click the Apply color changes to list
arrow and select All, then click Restore Defaults.
    3 Click Apply.

Fine here too. Did the gamma fix as soon as I installed and it has been clear sailing so far. 20+ hours of BF2 and it's all good.

    works fine

I dont hear yet, that soft- may demage hardware in that way !

May be, that driver conflicts with overclocking because optimizations. I had such an effect witch an video graphics BIOS upgrade: overclocking was runnig good without any problems before and after that. With upgraded BIOS there where pixel errors already in nVidia demos in overclocked mode, default timings worked fine.

My first tests results are better than all last drivers:

    Windows 2000 Pro, DirectX 9.0c:

CPU: 200x10.5 (Athlon XP 2800 Barton)
    RAM: 2.5/4/4/8
    SBA: on
    FW: on

    GPU: Leadtek WinFast A400 TDH
    (GeForce 6800 16x1,6vp)
    Core: 390
    RAM: 950
    3dMark01 17310
    3DMark03 11284
    3dMark05 4897
    Aquamark 3 8136/7102/51730

    Playing some games later ...

ps.: The problem with colour in video overlay I know already from earlier drivers, setting defaults in nvidia display properties corrects it fast. Originally I wanted to confirm my good results by other benchmarks and landed there ...

ok i did some test and i use HDD Regenerator and the other program that use bad sector and it seem that everything is ok in my HD. my only thing is that 77.72 kill my 6800 because i call compusa and i told them my problem and they said that uninstall the gfx card driver and i did and reinstall it then when i was going to windows xp blue bar and almost going into window it hang up. but when i start my pc the nvidia bio come out. also when i run VGA mode and switch the screen to 1024*768x32 my screen turn to

    _

    [.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.][.]

then it reboot. i try driver from 61.xx to 77.xx and nothing work. >_< i guess the 77.72 driver kill my 6800 and yes software can kill hardware. its like overclocking a card and it kill it. damm this is a sad day to me. not only i lose my 6800 due of the gay 77.72 driver but now i have to check if my FX 5200 still work. if the fx 5200 still work then the 6800 is mess up.

Edit: Nvidia that fu*king it, i had it with your sh*tty drivers and your cards. in 2001 i got a 5600 ultra and in less then i install the driver and restart my card died. and i waste $320 on this 6800 card plus $72 for the psu. everything was super fine then i install the 77.72 driver that gameover my card dont want to install the software anymore. now i am using my pc with out the driver and its killing me. and people, ya think the 77.72 driver is great but its not, when your card get mess up dont tell me u was right. i warn ya once stay away from this driver before its too late.

when i start college and get money i will go for PCI E or X800 pro card. or i wait for the R520 card
