What's wrong with your current cpu? An E8400 oc'd to 4050mhz won't bottleneck your cards.

    and its so hot

im hearing good news about nehalem and i made this subject cos i was planing on getting E8600 with water cooling kit

so it has nothing to do with (SHOWING OFF)

Instead of a new cpu spend the money on a cooler then...

    Or grab a quad.

    well...

even if i got a new cooler

im goona be stuck in the 4050 barrier

cos i tried to get higher clocks but no use

maybe its the board cos its support FSB up to 1600 only

so cooling my cpu wont give me any higher clocks

I highly doubt your CPU is bottlenecking you, wat games are you running at wat resolution details etc and wats FPS are you getting?

As for your temps, wat are they? what are you using to find out what you temps are?

As for OC'ing all chips are different, some OC better than others so you cant expect to hit a specfic frequency.

Nehalem in single threaded apps or benchmarks is no better than the current dual core Penryns. Nehalems strength is in multi-threaded performance/scaling, so unless the game is mutli-threaded it may likely perform no better than current Penryn dual cores. In fact, high OC'd dual cores may likely outperform it in the majority of games.

Of course its still too early to say, we only have hints based on very few preliminary benches done so far.

yep that entry nehalem wont bring you much performance gains.. its only like 5-10% faster compared to q9450 clock to clock. In Pi its only 2sek faster so no big deal, and they don't OC as c2d/c2q do...i thought i screwed up when i got me a quad, because i thought about nehalems allot, but now i see it's not worth it :p

i would suggest stick with current cpu, or get a new yorkfield c2q.

    how?? bottleneck?
get c2quad q9450 2.66 12mb and overclock it to 3,4 it will be good why wasting alot of money on something will be only 25% faster while it is 4x more expensive dude get a quad core and oced it

to get nehalem you need to change the board [god knows how expensive it will be?!]
    you need ddr3 ram ?!
    plus the cpu it self
that's all for 25% clock for clock?!!

It will be a downgrade. He now has an E8400 running at more than 4 ghz. Only a handfull of games support quad core so I see no reason why he should get another cpu now.

    well ok

every one is killing me here
    i play all games At 1920 1200

    maxed out

if i dont overclock the game stutters so much

and i wont enjoy the game at all

    my gamees are

    oblivion

    spellforce

    crysis

    Assassin creed

    mass effect

ok my frames keep improving every time i overclock higher

but i got stuck at 4050

and the card can give me more

cos i tried to get to 427*

and the frames improved even more

but the whole pc wasnt stable

so i just wanna get a CPU that can fully handle An SLI card

    and not bottle knocking it

say what U want but that's what im analyzing with my own eyes
