Vulkan Beta Driver

    Yes, it is different dev branch. They take one certain release, "freeze" it, so to say, and then extend upon it with further Vulkan updates. They do rebase this driver from time to time to a newer main branch release.

    These drivers are specifically for game developers to get advance access to upcoming extensions while developing their games, in a very few cases its beneficial to emulators who implement them quite early.

    As it's a driver from https://developer.nvidia.com/vulkan-driver you can already see that it's supposed to be for developers of Vulkan applications. Each build has specific Vulkan fixes and new Vulkan extensions to be tested by those developers.

    Some people like to try and run them as daily driver, but they are unlikely to have the latest fixes in them for games etc, they are a completely different branch, much like the WSL drivers.

      • Fixed an issue where unreferenced descriptor bindings were sometimes not ignored properly
      • Fixed a bug where VK_NVX_binary_import was advertised as supported on unsupported platforms which caused calls to vkCreateDevice to fail if applications attempted to enable VK_NVX_binary_import on such platforms
