Is there any difference between those GPUs in terms of compatibility with games (especially older ones)?

Compatibility difference? Not really... although the Voodoo3 does lack AGP Texturing support and no 32-bit colour support in 3D(although 3DFX had pretty decent dithering). Not sure how big a deal that will really be if your using such a card for retro gaming though. A Voodoo3 would be a pretty perfect card for stuff from around 1999 and earlier. Voodoo 4/5 is better of course, but harder to get.

By the tail end of 1999 though you get into the first GeForce, Radeon and of course the Voodoo4/5. GPU tech moved soooo much more quickly back then :D

AnandTech review articles lost all the resourceful pictures. There were so many clear comparison IQ pictures used back then.

The image difference between ATi Rage Fury and Riva 128 for example was removed by date.

Yeah. Kind of part of the lost Internet at this point. The voodoo3's also had a 21-bit mode that I seem to remember helped abit

Many vendors were caught "cheating" back then. Green was the No.1 participator when it comes to it and people cited AnandTech articles as certified undeniable proof.
Lost pics happened on the CPU side as well https://www.anandtech.com/tag/cpus/107 and every products pre-2007.
